is this computer good enough for me?

    hey all,
i am buying a computer within this week or the next 1. i was looking up this computer on best buy and i kind of like it. the only question i have is the speed its 1.60ghz. i m mostly going to use it for web browsing, doing school work, playing online games and making vids using hypercam (like rs vids) and all that stuff. i m just asking if it will be able to handle all that stuff. And also should I get the performance service plan cuz a lot of ppl say its not that useful.heres the link to the computers info:

    Personal comments:
Find another one with better CPU, at least Dual Cole 2.2GHz , as well as the price is too high for this configuration.

according to your requirements, You`d better buy one with a mainstream discrete graphics card, at least 790G or 785G integrated mainboard.

coming from a pro gamers point of view, i would go for somthing bout 2.2Ghz, 256mb graphics and atleast 160gb hdd. the bigger you get the longer it will last. thats why i could have spent bout 2000$aud and would be sufficent to play all he best games atm, but insead is spent bout 12000$aud and it will last me bout 6 years, and anyway it was fun building it. gl on ur pc

Personally I'd say to try to find a computer with at least 3GHz processor for all-purpose use. Also look for something with an Intel processor instead of AMD, I've never had a good experience using AMD's cheap equipment.

Another thing you have to look out for, Just like laptops, computer manufacturers try to make up for slow processors by adding mass amounts of RAM. While RAM is good for making your computer not scream when you run applications, It does nothing for how fast the computer loads those applications.

I would say overall, if you're looking for an all-purpose computer try to find one with this:

    3+ GHz Dual/quad core processor,
1+ GB RAM (Not much more than 1GB is needed for just general use)
250+ GB HDD (The hard drive size really depends what you plan to put on it.. mine has 750GB and I'm not even using 30% of it.)
256+ MB Graphics (If you're trying to play some hardcore games, you might want to find a 2+ GB GPU)

The rest is really all cosmetic, it can be whatever you see fit for a cheap price you can find. As far as brands, I have an HP and I love it :p Cheap and reliable.
