Quite ashamed of Skele_Master and JCash

Dear moderators, especially Skele_Master and JCash,

A highly-trusted member and friend of mine on this forum gets banned from this report: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=780765

Now, ordinarily I feel that mods are too stingy in giving out bans, but I respect the "Innocent until proven completely guilty" motto that goes on in this forum. However, after learning that he had been banned from the above-mentioned report, I was quite stunned.

1. There are no pictures of an actual trade taking place
2. The member's only post is the actual report. Wouldn't you be suspicious if someone was looking to sell a blue p hat and doesn't even reply to a buying thread or post their own selling thread?
3. The member's conversation takes place before he even registers on sythe. Are we to believe that someone who is legitimately selling a $400+ item doesn't bother to register on sythe, and that when he does, his only post is the scam report and he simply leaves afterward? This is simply odd behavior.

Driveahonda then posts an appeal: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=781449 to which the response is: "you are responsible for your MSN and sythe account. banned"

Now I would expect a little more sympathy from a mod. Hacks happen to everyone, if I'm not mistaken, [N]ick got hacked recently. Since Driveahonda has since recovered his MSN, and no proof is given of an actual runescape trade taking place, I do not see why such a response was given to his appeal.

It's quite clear that someone was simply trying to tarnish his reputation. Now I see that recently someone faked a report against Dalpra and received a swift ban. Granted, it was quite obviously not a legit report, but I feel that this report against driveahonda is also obviously fake. I'm just ashamed that the mods are trusting a one-post newly joined member over a 96-vouch well-established member by believing a report without proper evidence and ignoring many glaring red flags. I am quite proud of the moderation that occurs on this forum, but this whole debacle has me wondering what has happened to the golden standard that I have become accustomed to seeing.

There are pictures. If it wasn't him on his msn, then he's responsible for paying back those who got scammed. If he doesn't he will not be banned.

 

I don't see enough proof to have him banned. That is a joke.

 

Don't question the decisions of the mods. You arent them, you don't have the know-how or the experience when it comes to deciding on a user's status (banned, etc.).

They're doing their job, and you should just let it go because it isnt you.

How are these 5 pictures not enough? There's proof of a trade and proof of him logging out during the trade.

 

I saw that report. There were multiple pics providing proof.

If he has a complaint, why doesn't he just appeal his ban with proof?

 

The report was perfectly adequate. Plenty of users lurk the site, and he would hardly have been the first to have created the account just to make a report.

Moreover, if Driveahonda's MSN was hacked, he would have needed to announce it somewhere clearly - for example, in his signature or profile.

 

I'm disappointed.

You posted on my scam report, where as I have supplied you with pretty much the same information as above (my customer logged off after I asked him to send me payment & you just asked to see "Proof that he refused to send you payment"). Is this no different? Is there concrete evidence that he is refusing to send him a payment?

There's not actually proof of a trade. It's true, I'm not a mod, but I just feel that in the past, mods only issue bans based on concrete proof. Where is the in-game shot of the actual trade? If his MSN was hacked, anyone could have made those chat logs. I'm only making this thread because I really don't see Driveahonda pulling a scam. But of course, the mods are the final-decision makers and perhaps I am too harsh with my title

I did, I was writing my message while you were posting yours. This is the kind of double standard that I was talking about

 

He can make an appeal with proof that he sent the money if he honestly didn't scam him. For now though, there is no need to have this thread. If he wants to appeal himself, he is more than welcome to.

 

The proof of the trade is the conversation. The msn window of the trade happening. And if his msn was hacked then he is responsible to pay those that were hacked back.

 

I was just asking for another screenshot? I didn't lock it and say this isn't enough proof like the rest. I just wanted to be sure. And yes it is different.

 

The nail in the coffin was on page 4 of 5. G/driveahonda said, "I know you sold it to me". That is enough proof to make an in-game screenshot obsolete.

Although this is a disappointing ban, I've dealt successfully with driveahonda multiple times, it is warranted. I hope he will be able to pay this guy back.

That is not true at all. You shouldn't blindly follow ANY authority figure. I hope you don't have that same attitude with police officers... or anything else...

I would have probably banned based off that report.

That was concrete evidence, he logged off without sending the money.
