I'll confidently say that District 9 was one of the best science fiction films in years

just torrent it, dont go to the theater. its not one of those movies you wanna sit still a long time for. Feel free to go take piss-breaks and eat something while the movie is on, if you've seen one SciFi you've seen them all, and thats the case with this.

It's rather predictable and very slow-moving. But, it does nevertheless have a rather "different" quality to it, which I know others have mentioned but which I cannot myself place.

I personally don't see what any of the hype was about.

The hype was that it was made in South Africa, i think lol... actually about 300 miles away from me :S.

I didn't like it, made South Africa look like shit again, haha... to be honest they didnt have to build a set - it actually looks like that in the settlements. When i first saw the place in the movie that the 'prawns' were living in, i said Hey, thats site 5. lol.

It was funny though, if you are South African you will find the way they speak very typical.

It was a little weird, got boring towards the middle. If they got straight to the plot and didn't make it look like the "Office" maybe would of been a cool movie.
