Infraction for requesting guide?

I was just wondering why were are not allowed to request a guide in the RS market section in guide sales. I was infracted for posting a thread about buying a guide. I never saw that line in the stickys, and the infraction is warranted, so I will not dispute it. I am just asking why we are not able to try to purchase a guide, or post a thread about wanting to buy a guide. So my suggestion is to allow people to post "buying _____ guide" threads. Thanks

Well I am not too worried about the infraction, I just think it's its non-sensical to not allow buying guide threads in the guide sales section.

 

That rule has been there for a while and it's there to keep the guide section more orderly. If you wish to purchase a guide, just use the "Request a guide sticky" and state that you're looking to buy a guide.

Before the rule was put in, the section was a complete mess of threads. If anything I would separate the section into buying/selling.

 

If you can say "SELLING ____ GUIDE" then why cant you say "BUYING ____ GUIDE"?

It'd be like infracting for trying to BUY a member pin instead of sell one.

 

It's much more orderly and clean in the pin selling section as there is a buying section separate to the selling section. I honestly don't see what the uproar is about, that rule has been there for quite some time and NOW it's a problem?

 

I'm not making an uproar at all, nor is it a problem. I am just simply making a suggestion, as I think it is somewhat ironic that I cannot make a thread about a guide I would like to purchase in the guide sales forum.

Why not do it like the memberships then, have a buying/selling section? Because honestly, the sticky where you request the guide, people look there very infrequently.

 

I'd love for it to have a buying/selling section, but it would also cause problems. Many people would target buyers with terrible guides, or scams, without the guide being verified. Sorry if I'm not making sense it's hard for me to explain this and I'm tired. :'(

As for the stickies, they should be checked every time there is a change of date at the end of the rules. Example: Rules Update -(3/2/10) <- Date updated. You should notice the change in date and re-read the rules. Stickies are there to be read, and if you don't read them and go against what they say you're probably going to get an infraction.

We should have the right to buy guides, just as we are allowed to buy any other type of services.

It would make the guides section look like a mess.

And as Badger said, it makes targets for scammers.

Also, it would cause more problems for mods because they would have more people breathign down there necks about verifying guides.

Better thing to do is to search through the sellign section and see if they have a guide for you or filter the search through a sythe search.

 

It may cause a few more problems, but it definately makes purchasing a guide easier. As previously mentioned, the 'Request a Guide' thread if not regularly checked by sellers, as it's easier for them to just post a thread. Buyers then have to search through numerous threads to see if the guide they want is being sold, then if not they post in 'Request a Guide' and maybe a month later somebody will reply to them.
I support splitting the section into 'Buying' and 'Selling'.

 

I support it should definately be split Into buying/selling sections as it would make it easier to get the guide you Are after, as for verifying guidesisnt that what market mods where put in place to do - to make sure the forum is full of legit sellers/buyers and to keep scam free.
