Tips for sellers to avoid FRAUD.

I thought I'd contribute this out of my own experience selling game accounts online. Hope it helps out any new sellers.

    - Know the real identity of your buyers. Con artists will always try to stay anonymous.

    - Keep conversation logs, take screenshots, record everything during your interaction with the buyer.

    - Do not trust web aliases or forum reputation. Believe it or not, online rep can be false.

    - Be patient. Do not jump to lower prices too soon or make rash decisions because of impatience.

    - Contacting the buyer via phone is also a good way to build some trust. Most scammers will avoid this at all costs.

    - When using Paypal, it is a good idea to verify your account with a bank. It may take up to a week but it should give any genuine buyers some confidence.

    - Get the buyer's picture ID. You may ask them to upload it with a scanner and e-mail it to you. (driver's license, passport, health card, student card, etc.) Also be prepared to identify yourself.

    - When accepting payments through Paypal, make sure the buyer's account is also verified with a bank. Make sure the name and information on the Paypal account matches their picture ID. Also get them to send you a small deposit from their account to prove their ownership of it.

    - If the buyer refuses to identify themselves in any way, you must be especially wary of scammers at this point. Many scammers are good liars, and they will insist giving out their identity is an unnecessary hassle.

    - Written personal identification over instant messaging is not credible in any way. For example, if they type out the information on their driver's license over instant messaging, they may reason that its too much hassle to use a scanner. Do not trust this.

    - Buyers may insist on using a 'Middle man' service. Be especially wary of this. Do not use any middle man that makes the trade over instant messaging. Know the identity of the middle man. If its a professional service, make sure they have a written terms of service, and look over it.

    - If they send you the money over Paypal, make sure the buyer includes a note that indicates they will not, for any reason, dispute the transaction. This is to avoid unwanted Paypal disputes, or charge backs. Do not use Paypal to send them a bill, make sure they are the ones who send the money directly to your account.

    - List your product on Ebay or Amazon if the buyer is still hesitant on making the trade.

    - Stay strict and professional. Do not give the buyer any leniency because they are polite.

I don't scam. I know I don't have any rep, that's why I said I'd be willing to give out personal info. I think that beats any shit forum reputation. You are all anonymous anyway.

I would trust an anonymous trader with good rep more than a leecher who gives you his personal info.
For example, does any1 know xels name and adress? no
he is a trusted and respected member? Yes
also personal info can be fales, rep from known traders can not be fales. I admit rep from 10 leechers is not rep at all. But mutliple vouches from known traders like xel, me, jonas, or acid. thats rep.

I could give a fuck who you are.
    I think everyone would agree?

only problems is someone who gets bored enough to spoof a number and photoshop their id?

sure ppl can feel safe trading i guess but this is a buttload of work for a $5-20 account...

i would consider the fact that not all ppl who won't give away their identity are scammers, more like they don't want to share that shit in a black market ~_~ *dur?

Ok, you make a good point. But I only found this site a few days ago, and its difficult trying to make this first sale without any rep. The reason I don't like going first is because the vast majority of the anons who have added me to MSN so far have had the intention to scam me. If the buyer does have good rep, I will consider going first. However, most of the people I deal with are only leechers like me. Its not easy to make a deal between two leechers who insist the other goes first. Also, I've been scammed by a well known member of the Gamerzplanet.net community before. He had all the rep to back it up, and apparently was also a middleman. I had all the evidence indicating that he scammed me, including the conversation log, the pm he sent me with his e-mail. I took screen shots all throughout, yet when I reported it to the moderators, they only dismissed it as falsified evidence from a nobody. I lost hundreds of dollars that I could've made from that deal. So I may be slightly prejudiced when trading online. I am just rambling on at this point, but I hope the community here isn't like that.

Thanks man. This made my day. But now that I think about it, my original post might have sounded a bit excessive and paranoid. I don't mind if any mods will delete this thread.

First of all, i would not make deals for that much money online unless its a very trusted member that you communicate with daily. All i can recomend are some the best MMs. which in my opinion are jonas and xel. but xel is not on much. I will be MMing soon. i was well known MM on sites like kh and steamtraders. But mms like jonas who are friendly and have 100s of vouches from known and active members and not so much as a negative post relating to them, its hard to go wrong when dealing with him.
