The duping glitch - how it worked, and why.

You all know about the recent glitch, most probably know how it worked. Here's an explanation, copied from my thread on Rune-Tips.net, of WHY it worked for those curious.

uhh the drag bolts were not the only item ...I personally duped diamond and ruby bolts too, cuz dragon ones were not selling from g.e =)
and no one is banned YET as far as i know

 

This is bad, but its cool that someone figgured this dupe/glitch out

 

Maybe from the people YOU know who did it they are not banned YET.

But hundreds of people HAVE already been banned.

I personally know 20 people on a different forum have been raging about the ban.

Read in this forum, just read around. Skillers FTW posted 3 accounts that were banned. Others also admitted to being banned for performing this glitch. Four of my friends were banned.
Also got to Rsbots.net forums to see some MORE people who are banned.
Still want proof?

 

Interesting, more bans will be coming as Jagex reviews GE purchases. Massive increases in bank values, etc.

Good thing this was only D bolts and not money. Inflation sucks. but if it was party hats and rares I'd be happy

 

Seems like there's gonna be a big ban wave coming soon.

 

I heard from a couple mod friends that they heard about a big ban comming.

Read through my technical description - I believe that duping rares WOULD have been possible if one pulled a cracker instead of enchanting bolts - pulling a cracker probably utilizes the same item-spawn function as cutting gems or enchanting bolts.

 

This was an interesting glitch. Unfortunately I was unable to even know how it worked let alone barely hear about it that day.

 

Too bad I was asleep during the glitch.
However, I probably would have tried it on my main like a greedy idiot and gotten banned, so it's not all bad

 

Interesting. So I'm guessing that anything like this using different items would be patched as well?

 

Yeah that's true I probably would have gotten myself banned.
And I heard Jagex dropped out all of the bolts that were duped.

 

Not really, you can't get phats from crackers anymore.

Yes you can. Whoever pulls it automatically gets the cracker. Jagex made it this so they couldn't be used for RWT by giving party hats to another person.

 

Find another deposit X stall, and I'll allow you the opportunity to use a cracker on me .
