Sythe chat system

Well some of the old mods should remember an idea shawn and I had about integrating irc into a chat trading system for the market. We had a very good layout of it all, but...

Matthew shot down the idea.

I think now with all this msn recovering, and the things going on these days that Sythe has a good amount of people who could really get this going. It would really be a huge asset to the community if it really came into place.

You can save all logs, you can put middlemans into the system, you know who you are actually trading with, etc. etc.

 

Very Nice Idea Cfrey. This is definatley the best idea ive heard in awhile...Ive had this problem with msn hacking awhile ago...

And Seems Msn have a Sh*t recovery system I could get it back...

 

Yea basically all they need is an ip, your location, birthdate, and a name.

 

The problem is the OPs can see these private chats, am I wrong?

 

I didn't think OPs could see private chats between users, would make trading much safer.

 

Only IRCops could read them which should be admins, and globals only anyways.

It doesn't necessarily have to be integrated with IRC.

I don't think anyone would read the conversation unless there was a scammer report.

 

Are you talking about like a facebook sort of chat thing or is it something different?

 

when I was mod there was talk of this with a program found and such.

 

Maybe one of those Xat Chat Boxes? Or something similar?

Support for this idea. I agree with only admins and some mods should be able to see this message only if they are accused of scamming.

 

Well they have cometchat, but that thing is really buggy...

Our idea way back then was to put it with IRC. Since Shawn was taking care of the IRC, and he knew a lot about it, and I think resident was gonna help too (he knows a lot about that stuff). Its fairly simple to get a bot to perform the tasks you would want to do in IRC.

 

When was Tgump an IRCop? I remember giving fat_lard my account and Tgump pasted the conversation to me and said to use a more private window.

What else if not IRC?

 

Those Xat chat boxes are completely different to the idea being discussed.

I think this is a really good idea and could work well. I support this and hope it comes into place.

 

If not IRC I really don't know. There is cometchat (the one that looks like facebook), but it has a lot of bugs, and would demolish sythes underpowered server.

The easiest way I can think of someone doing this is setting up an irc with no nick changes. Make a program where you have to enter your username and sythe password, and you automatically login with that nickname on irc. You get put into a channel, and in the topic it tells you a list of things to do. A simple irc example would be like....

Topic: Welcome to Sythe Trade system... To trade the person use !trade usernamehere. Once you and the other person have done so you will be put into a separate channel, and can request a middleman by using !OMM or !mm usernamehere.

Cfrey: !trade Darkgroove
You have been forced into channel #welk3r89sjflkes
Cfrey: Hey darkgroove do you want to use an OMM?
Darkgroove: Yea you pay fees
Cfrey: kk
Cfrey: !OMM

But Yeah I actually like that, pain in the ass in terms of monitoring though.

I 100% support. To be honest, when I first signed up I was wondering why there wasnt one to begin.

 

I'd like too see this happen. It'd be a great addition.
