Complete Idiots Guide to Ventrilo

Heard of people using Ventrilo to pk as a team but are not sure as to how to get it and use it? Need to learn how to use Ventrilo in under ten minutes? Look no further, this guide will show you absolutely everything you need to learn about Ventrilo.​

To start let's head over to Ventrilo's website (Ventrilo.com) and download the corresponding client, the page should look something like this.



Now, be sure to download the CLIENT version of the software and not the Server, I will be writing a guide as to how to run a Ventrilo server eventually, but for now stick to the CLIENT version.



Congratulations, after saving/running the program and installing it, you have successfully installed Ventrilo. Now, to setting up server information.

For demonstration purposes I have decided to use a bunch of random information.

To begin, click the small arrow next to the username bar.



Then, proceed to click the "new" option shown below.



Create your desired name, make sure it is unique and will help quickly Identify who you are to others in the server. The phonetic is simply the noise it makes when you enter the server, if you choose to leave it blank, it will play your name as entered in the username field.

Now you must hit the "new" option next to the server back on the main screen.



The following screen will present itself, you must press new.



Simply type in the name you wish the server to have and then hit enter or press ok. Now you will be able to enter information into the server information areas.



Go and search out the ip address and port number for the server you desire to join, the server may be passworded so in certain circumstances you may need to retrieve that piece of information as well. Note: Default Channel can be simply left blank. In most cases the server information will be presented in this fashion, 12.34.56.789:1234. The first few numbers are the ip address/hostname, anything after the colon is considered the port. NOTE: Hostnames can also be in the form of words such as Sythe.org.

Now you should have a filled in server setup as pictured below. Once completed, select ok.



Then simply hit connect and you should enter the server!​

Posted twice because I am pretty sure I posted in the wrong area and I don't understand why you linked that guide? Even if there is one already, I just made another one.

 

I posted the guides, because it's not necessary to have 10 of the exact same guides.

Its good! Most of it is semi self explanatory, but as a vent user it would have saved my ass a few times. May i suggest going into how to use vent. Like muting, mic binds, imput, channels etc.
