To Sythe/Mods:

I'm not going to beat around the bush with fictitious stories; I did indeed ban evade. I will include an honest summary of my initial ban reason below. I just hope I'm significant enough to at least be graced with a response. I realize why ban evasion is a permanent ban and why most people don't get second chances. For one, most ban evaders end up breaking the same rules they were initially banned for. Secondly, Sythe.org maintains a zero-tolerance policy.

While I don't have any power to change the second aspect, I've been at Sythe for over a year without much fuss. If Sythe.org offered second chances, I'd be fulfilling any probation well. I don't use the markets at all and I feel like I do contribute to the SFA.

If any of you out there value my participation on these forums, please speak on my behalf. Yes, I've watched people banned for less of a "crime", but also in the rare instance, given a second chance.

Initial ban reason:
Thequestionmark was the account used by a IRL friend and me to purchase member pins and sell accounts. I was the one in control of the account when it was banned.

General storyline:
1. DarkLord12345/Luke hacked [email protected] after successfully guessing the recovery question.
2. At the time, I had only known Luke for a week, but he couldn't help bragging to everyone that he had "a lot of GP to transfer".
3. Desperate yet unable to transfer a blue party hat, he asked me to help him transfer it.
4. I agreed, with full knowledge that the account was hacked, because he offered to cut me over 100m. Because of his generous offer, I got involved in other aspects of his scheme.
5. Eventually, when he had already tried all of R2's contacts, I manipulated him to giving me the password to R2's hotmail account.
6. About 5 minutes after I logged in, R2 messaged me, and I told him I was not the hacker. I offered to return the account.
7. Naturally, he did not believe any of what I was saying, and after a series of death threats I began to mess with him.
8. I eventually returned the account back to him, and told him I was thankful that he banned Dorito (who had scammed me earlier).
9. Thequestionmark was banned a few days later, with a very derogatory message. In my frustration, I asked Luke to recover the hotmail account again. Luke continued to try to scam the available contacts on the list.
10. When Luke found out that I had initially returned the account, he got angry, and eventually told R2 a very skewed version of the story.

I was severely addicted to Runescape then and made some poor, greedy choices. That is all I have to say. I'd like another chance, but I understand the rarity of such.

 

I am (for once) sympathetic, as you seem to have offered a genuine account of what happened. And, I'm sure Sythe will miss the intelligent company in SFA. Unfortunately, as far as offenses that one can't get out of by being an otherwise good member, I'd think hacking (or participating in the hack of) one of our own staff members ranks pretty high on the list.

 

Why exactly does the distinction between cracking and hacking matter? Neither one is less serious than the other, and you really seem to be missing the point if you think that, just because a ban wouldn't prevent him from doing it again, we shouldn't bother.

Moreover, while a TWC and market ban are within the realm of consideration, I find your qualification of "perhaps" rather entertaining. He just admitted to using R2p's contact list to scam members on this site. If that doesn't deserve a market ban, I don't see why we have it.

I'm getting tired of sectionals posting half-assed defenses for friends.​

The rant was overdue, tbh.

As for the TWC, I do think a case could be made for it. He was banned about a year ago, and since creating FF, he's shown minimal activity in the market, suggesting that he's not looking to scam/profit. Moreover, he has openly admitted offenses that are damning enough to be reasonably accurate. If his contributions outside the market are sufficient enough, and the risk of letting him stay is deemed negligent (that is: assuming he has changed, and would be barred from the market anyway), I don't think it would be entirely unreasonable to unban him.

 

Why should he be given a second chance, he broke the rules, if he's unbanned that's really going against everything we stand for.

Though if he's unbanned with a TWC/Market ban, we should do the same for Shredderbeam.

 

No, Darren never acknowledged what he did. He continued to lie about it, implying a lack of genuine regret. I think there's a very important distinction.

In any case, it doesn't look like FF has enough support to be unbanned. Denied, and locked.
