omg scammer pls help!!

ok so last week i applied to a bunch of jobs

i got this guy responding saying he wants me to be his personal assistant
he didnt show me any proof or anything that he was legit, no website , no street address

i initially gave him all my contact info wen i was jus randomly applying to jobs

so jus today he e-mails me this:




"Hello Kevin,

I am glad to inform you again that your contact details have been reviewed and will like to congratulate you as my new P.A, Your first assignment has been assigned to you Kindly acknowledge the receipt of this e-mail.Once Again, Congratulations.

FIRST ASSIGNMENT:

You will receive a check on my behalf from a client of mine, as soon as you receive the check locate a nearby store around you to get some toys, I want to donate them to an orphanage home, I will get you the list of what to get at the store upon the confirmation that the check has been delivered to you

You were sent a Check which would cover your payment of $550 for the week and also for the duty you are to carry out. Once you receive the check, you should cash it at your bank, and deduct your $550. and use the rest of the money for the services. Upon receiving the funds, the list of items to be bought will be forwarded to you and also the Name and address of the Orphanage Home.

You would have to keep a comprehensive record on every activity you carry out. Please send me a reply asap as the payment has the payment has already been sent and will be delivered to you this week.

ok so i responded to the email saying i dont want the job and alrdy found a new job( i didnt) bcuz i have feeling this is a scam, no1 sends a 550 check without even a phone interview

i having a feeling hes going to try to reverse the check wen i cash it.

i alrdy responded saying dont saying dont send the check, im not interested, but it said in the e-mail he alrdy sent it and i know he has my street address and all my info.

so my question is this

do u think this guy is a scammer or am i just am i jus being paranoid and missing out on a good opportunity to make some money..

my 2nd question is what do i do if the $550 check shows up at my door step and i dont want it? if i dont cash it im safe right? do i have to send it back? or jus rip up?

 

Probably a scammer. First, if you write like that to him, your obviously going to come off as retarded. Just tell him you would not like to do the deal, and give it back to him.

Ya it is a scam of some sort. You did the right thing; no one sends money like that to someone they don't know. If the check arrives to you, either send it back, or rip it up. You have done nothing wrong, so don't worry about it.

 

It is definitly a scam.

My suggestion is keep telling him you dont want it till he responds or you receive it. Once you receive it rip it up immediately, if your really scared just call the cops and show them everything.

 

No way in hell ANYONE legit would send that much without any type of interview etc, you did the right thing.

Okay, I would just stop any contact with him. If the cheque turns up, take it to the police and hand it in. That way you can't get into any trouble if the guy claims you used the money. I think I read about this scam once before, it sounds similar.
