Sythe Chat!

First off, I am not sure myself if this is realistic so please, if it isn't feel free to tell me.

My idea is similar to Facebook chat, for those who know it.
Basically the fundamental purpose for it is to make it easier to trade. Instead of having to use MSN why not have our own built in instant chat feature.
To add a contact, there could simply be an option for 'Add to chat' or something along those lines, the other person would have to accept you but after that they would come up when online in your 'chat' box.

Again this idea is very similar to Facebook chat as how I pictured it. So if my description is ambiguous take a look at Facebook chat.

This falls somewhat within the 'shoutbox' category, so I doubt they'd allow it. It does sound like a good idea, but it might be too hard to create and manage.

I would use it if it worked and was secure.

 

I've already brought the facebook chat idea up to Matthew, since it already exists within forums in the same basic form that facebook has.

 

And what did Matthew say about it?

 

The facebook chat lags so much especially when someone messages me and I am on another tab. That is something to think about.

 

Support. Would be a great alternative to MSN messenger.

 

I don't support. It'd probably lag the site even more. Just not something I'd want. If it could be integrated, I'd like it, but MSN would still be much nicer so I'm not sure I would find myself using such a system.

I support the idea to some extent. Perhaps the facebook style chat would be good, but in a pop-out style fashion like they have as an option. It wouldn't lag the site as much (Assuming there is lag associated with the chat) and as said, would provide an alternative to msn

 

Same... I do not like FB chat.
Could someone tell me the problem with a shoutbox?

 

I like this Idea, the guitar site UltimateGuitar have a FB style chat system on their forums, it runs way smoother then FB chat does. This could do away with MSN and make trading all take place on the website

 

You're better off with the chat, you can actually talk directly to whom you are trading with instead of having to sign on msn. I support the sythe chat

 

I like this idea. But if it's going to be as laggy as Facebook chat, then forget it.

If this chat didn't make the site lag even more than it already does, than you have my full support! This would be great as it would allow you to directly chat with people selling accounts, guides, etc instead of having to add everybody on MSN.

 

True, if there should be standing who's online etc it's good because you don't need to check on MSN if anyone is online or something.

 

An IRC channel would clearly be the best thing to use.

 

If we did add this idea and there were some people not too cool with the idea, why don't you make an option to disable the chat?
