What happens... When you are... Dead?

I use that one on the Christians at my school when they say "The Earth is so unlikely to exist, it must have been god!"

 

Alright. So, I haven't really read through most of this whole thread because there's SO much to read, so I'm just going to voice my opinion and hope nobody else said the same thing x]

I figure, yeah, when someone dies, they just. Decompose. They're dead, there's not much more to it. I think the hard thing to really think about is what that.. "Nothingness" Is really like, because of the fact that nobody has really experienced death for some time, and be able to come back to tell people about it. And also the fact that it's practically impossible to think of that absolute nothing, no thinking, no NOTHING, since your brain isn't like. Functioning and stuff and you don't realize what's happening.. and sleep isn't really the same thing, but even still, when you sleep? You go to bed, black out, and wake up. You can't recall what it feels like, or anything..

Whatever. I'm 14 and rambling on about something I have NO knowledge of, whatsoever. xD

 

You go either to hell or heaven.

 

Nobody knows, but I think this is what it feels like...

Remember the time you were last sleeping (but with no dream)? You don't really remember it and its all blank. Thats what I think it feels like. :\

 

I constantly twist this in my mind and feel instantly depressed.

I'd rather be re-incarnated as a different person than go to heaven or whatever. You'd be able to live a different persons' life, living in their shoes. If you kept your own mind, that would just be ace.

But it's probably a dreamless sleep. Damn.

 

It isn't you anymore. You are no longer what you used to be once you have died because you have ceased to life and therefore are lifeless and are just an object, a reminder that you even existed in the first place.

The only good/cool thing would be is if you were just a soul wondering the world aimlessly.

Just think about it this way.

If I die, and go to heaven, i'm glad i'll live peacefully forever.
If I die, and there is nothing after, I'm glad I'll never know.

I just believe after I die, it will be like sleeping, without a dream, nothing.

 

I believe that nothing happens. You don't see anything. No hearing. Just drifting.

 

This is one of the greatest questions you can asl really, and the beautiful thing about it, is that no one can truly know.

I personally think that nothing happens. I think you simply die. Sad, but I see nothing else happening.

Think of it this way.
You plant an apple seed. You water it everyday, add fertilizer, look after it well, make sure nothing happens to it until the time of harvest. At the time of harvest, you only pick the good apples and throw away the bad apples.

Thats one way you can think of God.

He put us on earth to test us. If we led a good life, after dying, he wont just throw us away, he'll reward us (Heaven). If we led a bad one, he's gonna punish us (throw us away like those bad apples to Hell)
