A Quick Warning! For FireFox Users!

Hey all =P. Sorry if the title scared you, its nothing to be alarmed of. I had a buddy of mine that let someone "help" him on teamviewer. 5 minutes later the guy had his password for everything.

On firefox, not sure about other isp's. If you go to

Tools -> options -> security -> saved passwords -> show passwords.
All your saved passwords are shown. For some reason this has been happening to my buddies alot. and im just posting this here so people know. I know its very basic, but its just a tiny lil warning =P.

I've heard about this before. As long as you don't use the "Remember password" feature this information will not be in there. Also if they're on teamviewer why on earth would they just sit there while some guy drags their mouse across the screen, goes through some options and steals their passwords? You would think they would stop it, maybe close the window or something.

 

1. Firefox is by no means related to any ISP.
2. Teamviewer is a remote desktop program that enables FULL access for a computer.
3. Password saver is an amazing function, don't be stupid to let people get access to it.Firefox allows you to set a MASTER password to prevent access to the Show password button

 

Yeah, Just set the master password and your fine.

Nice post. I'm a tech geek and I can tell you that Firefox is no where near safe. Do not enter a credit card number or log into paypal or any online money site on firefox.

@JDk. Im not saying that your gonna just walk away when someone is on remote desktop with your computer.

Shiit, i never knew that... Clicked "Show all passwords" when they appeared i got quite freaked out, and removed them all :L anyway, thanks for the heads up...

Let us just come to the conclusion.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE PERFECT BROWSER! All browsers has its flaws and benefits. Furthermore each browser has potential exploits within their coding that allows legitimate hackers to gain access to information on your computer.

 

Just a FYI, Google Chrome has the same function as well.
Click the Wrench > Options > Personal Stuff > Show Saved Passwords.

Why would you even save passwords, especially if you haven't set a master password? It shouldn't be too hard to remember them.. And you really deserve it if you save passwords and don't set a master pass, let someone open the settings, go to show passwords and hit ok and view them...

It's not a flaw in firefox, it's a great case of PEBCAK..

Chrome is fine if you have a shitty computer that can't handle a decent browser and you want google collecting data from your browsing history. Internet Explorer is fine if you know nothing about computers and don't mind the slowness, insecurity and general fail of it.

Well if it isn't common sense I don't know what common sense is. Not recognising that TeamViewer gives full access to your computer is on par with giving your credit card details to some random stranger. If you want to protect your passwords, set a master password or don't use TeamViewer.

 

The problem here is not firefox.

It is your idiot friends who allow people control of their computer.
