What is flipping?

I've heard the term a few times, and I know it has something to do with merchanting. Can someone elaborate?

 

Basically you buy an item for a set price and sell it for a higher set price 4 hours later.

try for example verac armor lets say the price is 5,5m 4 hours after sell it for 5,7m

 

Why does it have to be 4 hours? i thought it was just when the grand exchange updated

 

The limit between when you buy something on the G.E and can sell it back on the G.E is 4 hours.

 

The grand exhange Updates on averge every 24 hours, but the limit of which you can buy/sell updates 4 hours after buying/selling the item.

btw d boots work well, i buy around 60 during night and then sell them tho u can only buy 10 d boots each 4 hours i think but its still a nice profit
