Does help to know what you're buying; you wouldn't buy/build a $3,000 computer without knowing the specs,
so being a bit knowledgeable about cars which can cost more won't kill ya. ^_^

Ok, so here's the thing, I want to know what the score is in america. I've been driving for a few years in the UK, and I can tell you for 100% fact that there is no way on this earth that any of you would be able to afford the insurance premiums for 90% of the stuff in this thread unless you're all over 25 or have more money than god. Unless things work very differently over in the USA, I don't get it.

And btw,

That's also BS. Nobody in the UK will touch you for insurance as a new driver on that which means you're either a) lying, b) it's daddies car or c) you're actually sucker enough to have found a dodgy insurance comp that will insure you for £10,000 a year. In which case you're not only stupidly rich, but also a moron

Insurance is definately alot different in the US im guessing because after 2 tickets and 1 car accident (totaled) i pay $90 a month. the vehicle is in my dad's name, im not sure if that does something to it or not.

Thanks man. Its much appreciated. Ive put a lot of work into her. What you cant see is that the hood was actually all chipped up when i first bought it and some of the paint wasnt great. I ended up repainting most of the car. I bought the car for 7500. The guy i bought it from was wanting 9g but it was actually an ex-coworker. so he cut me a pretty good deal. Now total investment is about 15grand. Damn car stuff is so expensive.

Well I have one speeding ticket and drive a little Fiat Punto - insurance is £85 a month (maybe around $120-$130?)

 

Thats not too bad. My insurance just dropped from 2900.00 a year. Costs more to pay it monthly. Would be over 3grand and thats without any collision coverage. If i were to add collision I would be basically doubling the cost.
