I used to be a member on another site where you could BST things.

In these forums, you could use things called goldups.

Goldups are like temporary stickies. A person would pay $5 for a goldup and it would put their sales thread at the top of the forum for like a week.

I think that would be good here. You don't HAVE to pay $5 to post a thread, but for people who want to express sell it, they can just pay $5 bucks to have it on the top of the forum for a week.

It isn't a sticky, but it is similar. I would show ya'll the website, but I don't want to get it for advertising. (Even though it's a paintball website that has nothing to do with RuneScape or computer :p )

Good idea although this would give huge advantages to those more "well off", and could potentially end up with pages of these thatd youd have to go through....This would also be a con because higher dollar items would have this opposed to lower dollar valued items. Although this is a "good idea", i dont think its a good addition to sythe.

Seeing as how the RuneScape markets alone are split into multiple different sub-forums, I don't think you should have to worry much about paging through lot's of goldups. There will most likely only be 10 goldups at the most... A lot of people would rather just keep bumping the thread, but some people are lazy, as well. This could make Sythe some extra money!

It is more likely that a higher dollar item is to be put as a gold up compared to lower value items...

I agree ; this was just an example though.

You would most likely pay for one of these thru paypal.
There is one reason they do not allow paypal donations.
Why would they allow you to buy these thru paypal if they don't allow paypal donations themselves.

I like the idea, a great way to make some cash. I support. However, pages and pages of these would be a pain. But I think it's a great idea.

Thanks :]. I don't think there would be pages and pages because not more than like 15 people at a time or something would want to spend 10 dollars or so. Great money making for sythe though !!

I only see this being a major problem in the 100 - 138 main section. Every account in there is almost always $200+. Dropping $10 on that is absolutely nothing to all of those people selling accts worth that much.

Maybe $50 a week. But believe me all threads get seen by someone.

I personally like the idea. It's a great improvement to having to bump so often.

I think it wouldn't be pages upon pages of them because, after someone sells what they're trying to sell, it will be taken down, so it may not even take a week before expiration.

The only issue I do see; however, is that the mods will be doing some extra work.

I don't think this would be very smart. It would be a hassle to keep track of all the money and scammers would more than likely do this and have their thread seem more legit per say. It's still people's responsibility to take safety precautions, I'm just saying that new members could be misled by seemingly more official threads. Main reason is keeping track of all the money and there would be pages upon pages of these gold ups in my opinion.

Maybe, with price experiments by the administration, there could be different value sets for the gold-ups in different forums?
Like, more expensive in the 100-138 section compared to the User Services section or something.

Sythe has a large staff team, and this isn't too much work.

This doesn't make the thread seem more legit... It is simply just a help feature for those who want to get noticed quicker and sell things faster.
If a newcomer can't tell the difference between a gold-up and a sticky, that's sad.

Again, with the pages upon pages, there wouldn't be if you toggled around with the prices.

Pretty decent idea but they should add like a 'no post for x amount of time then it gets un stickied' Also, would it be automated or do mods have to do it manually? They have enough to tend to.

Who are you to say what they are and aren't willing to do? Leave this to them although I don't see a system like this ever being put in place. I think the forums are great how they are presently.

If someone is willing to pay for more business, I think Sythe would rather have them just purchase a top or bottom banner.

Is the site. Its for information not advertising.

Gold ups would work but it doesn't mean it would help people with more money they may be to busy cause of gold ups or they may not offer all services

A person purchases a gold up. They are then able to enable this gold up on a thread. It isn't a moderation job, just a system.

Really, they don't have to do much of a job more than they already have to do.
They just have to make sure the topics are legitimate.

    This is more convenient.

No it wouldn't. It isn't unfair to anyone.
Most likely, only the topics with high-priced things will be at the top.
It's like like people ONLY look at the top of the forums; that's just the first place they look.

Thanks for posting the site, I guess you're right about it being information. :)

I am saying, it will help the administration with cash. This money can be spent on servers and such for LESS LAG :)
