a runescape addiction

before i played runescape
well, ill just start this off when i was in 5th grade.
i was pretty cool, had alot of friends, knew pretty much everyone, they all liked me went skateboardin all the time snowboarding all sports etc. and by all the time i mean we spent 8-10 hours a day jsut skatin and chillin with people, really fun. typical life of a poular person (ok, semi-popular)
didnt really do drugs because yeah i listened to my mommy and didnt like them
i would say 5-6th grade was the best time of my life.

started playing runescape
well ok i started runescape in about 7th grade, because my friend showed me it and i thought it looked amazingly fun.
i still remember his name (ipooted069) well yeah he never botted/cheated etc. so i logged on was amazed by the game and started playing ALOT, and i mean 15-16-17 hours a DAY.
i did not think it was a problem but my mom did but i said fuck you and just kept playin.. all day, everyday, no, i never got fat or anything ive always been kinda athletic body type, even still i am.
i soon began to be addicted to myspace... yeah i know.. wierd but it was the only way to talk to my friends via the internet. cuz i wanted to play runescape all day.
i soon drifted away from all my friends and never talked to them again.
i also started smoking weed,(which tbh, aint bad lol)
and once again, i lost all my friends.
i began to fail all my clases in school because all i could think about was going home and playing runescape, i even drew runescape in school.

then i moved to a new town in 2008. i did not know anybody so i continued to mostly play rs private servers (seriously cant stand real runescape) and mostly just talkin to friends(internet friends) on msn.

after i quit runescape
ok well yeah i dont really play RS much.. but i still bot a bit and pk a tiny bit (like once a month i pk) im still addicted to the computer and just playin private servers.. i played wow a bit but i got bored of it after a year
im beggining to get alot of friends at my new school..

i think after playing runescape, ive lost all my "coolness" and basic social skills... but now that i dont play i am slowly regaining them.

and tbh.

i dont give a fuck if u dont care bout my story.
i just felt like posting it cuz maybe i want to warn some people to not let there "addiction" get out of hand

i believe 100% of your story because the same thing happened to me in a way.

started playing alooong time ago, when all my friends played ( i was part of the popular group)

my friends started to quit.. i played for a while but eventually quit.

started hanging out with friends everyday again

started playin again..
my friends thought i went home everyday to play xbox.. but they were wrong lolz

quit again

now i started again bout a month ago.

no one knows i play , but now i still think about runescpae during school and want to come home to play it...

but i usually just dont think about it until i go home.

or if im at a friends house after school and it gets really boring.. i will think about playin rs and go home.

so i guess it kind of sucks for me right now again cause i'm playing.

but i try not to spend my outside school life playing games.

oh yeah and drugs came into my life when i quit runescape.

still do ALOT of drugs, and usually think about catchin a buzz or gettin fucked up more then runescape

but ive actually used runescape as my anti-drug kind of..

whats better?? dDRUGS or RUNESCAPE??

tbh i would rather be a hardcore druggy and have lots of friends than be a no life runescape player with no friends at all. :/ pretty much how desperate i am.

ehh, i dont think in the long run though..

i mean my drug life has developed alot over the past 4 years.

started drinkin in 6 th grade

smokin weed in 8th

did ecstasy my first time 10th grade summer

in 11th grade now and have done x over 50 times.

also tryed all the drugs i could get my hands on in the past 2 years..

coke/crack
shrooms
lsd

lots of others.. ahh

i've been trying to stop or at least slow down my drug use mainly in the past few months.

school is going to hell
friends aren't really, but they want me to slow down.. but they are the ones who kind of fuck it up for me cause they do it too lol..

like i've tripped on DXM (robotussin) over 30 times in the past year. and i'm COMPLETELY done with it (like never want to touch it again) and i'm trying to get all my friends to stop too cause it's really bad for you.

but everyone keeps doing it

i've successfully not done it the past 3 times all my friends have though

in the past 3 weeks^^ (yes they do it every weekend)

and i'm playin to do x this weekend when i said i wouldnt do it until feb 19th (goin to a huge rave)

but ahh fuck dude idk

Same thing happened to me.

Started in 7th grade and the addiction went until 11th grade when I finally decided to end it by getting rid of all my items and giving away my accounts. I took a few breaks in between when I said I quit but that didn't last long and I started playing within weeks of quitting.

Tbh the addiction is all in your head, runescape was beginning to be less fun for me at the end of 11th grade and I was beginning to see no point in it and that it was just a waste of time.

The damage has been done though i was a complete noob socially, didn't go out or anything lol. Senior year pretty much sucked for me cuz that's when i did most of my learning to get back on track. Then first year in college was pretty fun but i was still a little wierd. Now it's sophmore year and i'm completely recovered and back to normal.

 

Good to see that your story had a good ending. Too much gaming can ruin your social life.

Lol, looks like we all started rs in the 7th grade. I used to play with a group of friends back then, now they all quit except for me. Maybe I should quit too..

 

+1 to this (almost) happening to me >.>
In grade 4-6 I would skateboard 5 hours a day and hang out with people.
Then I would start playing RS 1-2 hours a day, and not always hanging out and skateboarding.
Then I got addicted to WoW and basically played that all grade 7.
In grade 8 I got addicted to Sythe and just general forum'ing.
Now it's grade 9 and I still use Sythe a lot, but I don't play games anymore and I hang out with people every weekend and go ride.
The internet is a bitch.

Ive had this with Runescape and Xbox Live. It sucks but hey youll eventually grow out of it most of the time

 

I started in '04, with about 5 friends on the game. Out of those 5 i'm the only one left to my knowledge.

I was addicted at one point, but now I just bot on accounts and log on from time to time to wc or something if i'm bored

 

i am in 10th grade atm.. i see no fun in runescape anymore except botting.
i cant even stand pking because it all looks like shit.

 

Basicly my life story Up untill now, From 7th grade till 12th and still now i play but i play about 2-4 hours a day if that none of my mates know i play im 18 and still playing this game sad huh ???? but i still have tons of friends, if they found out i play they would just give me shit not ditch me or anything.

 

I mean who cares if you are 18 as long as you still enjoy it.

 

same happened to me. 7th grade aswell -.-

a misunderstanding led me to believe an irl friend took my account.

So I scammed his 10k fire runes ...

which led him to steal my purple phat. (was worth 8m at the time lmao)

VERY VERY shortened story by the way. Lost alot of friends in 7th grade -.- meh im cool with them now for the most part... I lost alot of social skills though playing rs. stayed in my house alot. Got a bad temper from it too.

 

yeah i also got a temper with it.. i usually lash out(with words) at my family.. unknowingly.. not really on purpose..

 

I think anyone that plays any online games seriously goes through this phase, but you eventually learn to balance it. I've gone through the same thing.
