We'll eventually use up all our resources, and try to make other planets hospitable, because that's what we do. We're a virus. When the place we're living stops providing what we need, we move on to a new place instead of adapting to the changes of the original place.

We'll eventually run out of places to live, and die.

 

Hmm, I think it is most likely to be some sort of severe change in atmospheric conditions change or an extreme variation in weather(Extreme weather, rising/falling temperature etc.). On the other hand, some sort of pandemic disease could spring up that could kill off the human race.

i partially agree. anyways, i agree with this as a faster 'solution' than the sun burning out, or a supernova, or anything like that.

the disease was a rational notion, i guess, but global changes don't just happen out of the blue.



statistically, earth is going to be pressed for resources in the next 40 or 50 years, by then, we'll be looking for substitutes for the essential resources. from that, it'd be fairly easy for a disease, an addiction, a damage in the cellular structure of us all, or a malfunction in SOMETHING to just come and attack.

if the humans manage to outlast every other possible option, then yes, a supernova will definitely wipe us all out.

i'm just saying.

 

You all need to keep in mind this thread is about how the human race will go extinct, not how the earth will end. I guarentee the human race will be long gone before the earth is.

 

Why does it matter? I think it would be for the best. Plus there are obviously other humans or life forms out there. It would be extremely ignorant to say there aren't. Think of it for the better.

Really! birth defects, so many chemicals in the body are constantly being added, making more defects= less normal people. Ex. gohan.

 

We'd lose our resources. And the oxygen level in the atmosphere would be too low as a result of chopping down trees.

 

What about when it gets down to less than 100 people? Do you really think that they won't be able to live on what's left?

 

They could. For a while. But what happens when the resources deplete further?

 

Ya, I remember hearing about it but it ended up being disproved. Apparently they got the times mixed up or something, anyways, I don't think we'll be ending anytime soon. We still have PLENTY of resources here on Earth to last us for a while. People make a big deal out of nothing. Also, don't plants take in Carbon Dioxide and give off Oxygen or something? Carbon Dioxide only makes up .038% of our atmosphere, correct me if I'm wrong please I just got this off wikipedia. Eventually scientists will come up with a way to clean the air of CO2, who knows maybe they'll invent a machine to take in CO2 and release Oxygen like plants do. I just personally believe that we will be here for a long time, people have been preaching about the end of the world for centuries, and they still will.

 

You say "PLENTY" of resources, but by whose definition do we mean "plenty." Oil will last until about 2050, when it will become a rare resource. Coal, just a little bit longer after that. A "while" is an arbitrary term that, at our current rate of consumption and projected consumption, is about 40 years of plentiful resources.

Also, the machine that takes in CO2 would have to be fueled somehow, correct? Yes i know, we have solar power etc. But even if we could there would be no point at that time. If there were not enough Oxygen producing plants, then the ecosystem would fail because of how few there would actually be.

Finally, global warming is not something that could have happened before this time period. We have more factories and greenhouse gas producing facilities then ever before in human history. The whole process in that the released gas traps in heat from the sun. This does not mean that it gets hot right away. In fact, a change of one degree on the global scale is a huge jump. Sporadic weather changes and unexpected natural disasters are side effects of global warming because of the unnaturally changing climate. Global warming is happening, it just wont affect you as much directly now, but if the same path continues then it will get worse and changes will start happening.

 

Where did you get your data from? We still have several untapped reserves that we could tap into if it were a state of emergency. When I say "PLENTY" I agree I should be more specific, we have enough oil, coal, trees, ect to last us the next several years. At our current state, we can't really make an educated guess on when the world will end because we never know what discoveries are just around the corner. We could find some other efficient way for fuel/energy.

Well, I agree we would need to act sooner than later, otherwise it would be too late. Although, we would have to have several Oxygen producing plants, we would still have help from plants. At the moment, CO2 isn't a major problem, but if we don't act now it may be to late.

Well, I didn't specifically say that people have been preaching the end of world due to global warming, I just said that they've been preaching about the end of the world. Which is true, people have been preaching it for a long time and will continue to preach it.
I guess global warming skipped this year, the scientists that had some sort of theory on global warming 'lost' their data somehow. I'm not saying global warming isn't a possibility, because it is, I'm just saying I don't think it's anything we can't eventually prevent.

My personal opinion is Armageddon will end the world, the same Armageddon that is in the Bible.

No known date however.

and In my opinion, there are signs in which the world will end..
War Will NOT end this world. I believe it is natural disasters.

 

The T-Virus from Resident Evil will be a reality therefore infecting everyone besides a minority, thus ending the human population
