    F2P Pure Handbook

This is a guide I made a while ago, thought I should share it.

    -

I feel that there isn't much info on how to create a pure, so I tried to make a little guide that I hope will help everyone.

    Introduction

Don't you remember roaming the wilderness and suddenly seeing a person 15 levels below yours and thinking 'Eh, I'm gonna kill that guy'. Remember seeing your character being hit for 20s and 25s and thinking 'How on earth did he do that?'. Remembering dieing and wondering 'How can I make such account'?
I won't say 'Search no more because here is how', since that's really cliche and pretty stupid but here are some tips I found useful, when making my pures.

Pures are really fun. Try making one!

    The Hybrid

Some people like training Strength and Attack only, neglecting Ranged and Magic; or vice versa. I don't.
Being able to use different attack styles gives you the chance to do lots of different combos, have HIGHER HIT POINTS and have more fun pking since you won't stick to one attack style. To sum it up... It' ll improve your pking a lot.

This is the type of account I'll focus on. This guide will be about Making and Developing your F2P Pure

    Where/ How to train

So, hopefully by now, you've created your account and are now wondering what stats to get for F2P Pking and where to train.
This are the stats I'd get for F2P pking:

    - 40 Attack
(Don't get this any higher. You only want 40 Attack to be able to use Rune items)

    - 1 Defense
(For obvious reasons - "offense is the best defense". Getting this any higher will make you have less Strength Levels. Therefore it's a big NO)

    - 60+ Strength
(Get this as high as you want)

    - 40+ Ranged
(40 for Green d'hide chaps**. Get it as high as you can if you want to PK using Ranged (We'll get to this later))

    - 37+ Magic
(Mainly for teleports. Since you won't PK with Magic, get it up so you can 'travel' faster)

    - Get your hipoints as high as you can
(So that you're less likely to get koed)

    - 1/31 Prayer
(I'll get to this later in the guide)

** Good defence bonus against magic
    ------------

Now if I were you I'd train ranged first. Since now it's impossible to trade money between accounts (or fairly boring) it's important to save your gee pees. Since you can use safe spots and not get hit while training ranged, I suggest you doing it first. That way your hit points will be higher and you won't need to use that much food (Save GPs) when training Attack and Strength because you won't need to heal that much. Get yourself 1500 Bronze arrows and you're set for 40 Ranged

    Ranged Training Spots!

    1. Location: Chickens in Lumbridge
    Train up to: 10 Ranged
Equipment: Leather cowl, leather body, leather chaps, leather vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze
Explanation: They can't do any damage, and these will be like the only things you can hit at this level

    2. Location: Cows by the Gnomecopters
    Train up to: 25 range
Equipment: Leather cowl, leather body, leather chaps, leather vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze/iron
Explanation: They won't do much damage, and they're good for training at low levels for just about any stat. Plus you can pick up their hides and store them by talking to the guy there. Note: He'll take 10% of your deposit.

    3. Location: Scorpions in Al Kharid Mine
    Train up to: 40 range
Equipment: Coif, leather body, studded leather chaps, leather vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze
Explanation: You can hide behind the rocks as you train there, and the only problem is that it can be pretty crowded

You can stop here if you just want to use the chaps or continue if you want to PK with ranged

    4. Location: Hobgoblins by the Crafting Guild
    Train up to: 60 range
Equipment: Coif, leather body, Green D'hide Chaps, Green D'hide vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze
Explanation: You'll be power training here so you won't get hit. But you can't pick up your arrows

    or

    4. Location: White Knights on the 2nd floor of the White Castle - Falador
    Train up to: 60 range
Equipment: Coif, leather body, Green D'hide Chaps, Green D'hide vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze
Explanation: You can hide behind the fence, so you won't get hit. You can also pick up your arrows

    or

    4. Location: Hill Giants
    Train up to: 60 range
Equipment: Coif, leather body, Green D'hide Chaps, Green D'hide vambraces, boots, and the best shortbow you can use
    Arrows: Bronze
Explanation: You can hide behind the rocks as you train there, and the only problem is that it can be pretty crowded. At about 50 Ranged you can try a new spot, because this one tends to be kind of boring.

    or

    4. Location: Any
    Train up to: Any range
Equipment: Coif, leather body, Green D'hide Chaps, Green D'hide vambraces, boots, Crossbow and Bronze Bolts
    Bolts: Bronze
Explanation: This is a cheap alternative to using bow/arrows. Since Bronze bolts only cost 2 GP/each you don't need to waste so much money getting ranged up

Now it's time for you to train Attack and Strength, buy every scimy but Black which is not worth it in my opinion. Time for so more training.

Melee (Attack + Strength) Training Spots!

    1. Location: Chickens in Lumbridge
Train up to: 10 attack and 10 strength
Equipment: Iron and then Steel scimitar. Full Iron and a Strength Ammulet
Explanation: You won't have any trouble hitting these, and they can't do any damage, so you won't need any food

    2. Location: Cows by the Gnomecopters
Train up to: 30 attack and 20 strength
Equipment: Use a steel, mithril, and then adamant scimitar. Wear full iron and a Strength Ammulet. Also bring some pieces of food.
Explanation: They won't do much damage, and they're good for training at low levels for just about any stat. Plus you can pick up their hides and store them by talking to the guy there. Note: He'll take 10% of your deposit. Bring some food. //- Why not monks: They're too crowded… Only 4 monks spawn, and slowly. Who cares if they can heal you and themselves? It's slower training.

    3. Location: Minotaurs on the first floor of the Stronghold of Security
Train up to: 40 attack and 40 strength
Equipment: Bring your addy, rune scimitar, full iron and Strength Ammulet. Bring a full inventory of food
Explanation: It has a fast spawn. They have low hitpoints for their level, but they do very little damage. But it can get very crowded.

    4. Location: Warriors in Al Kharid
    Train up to: 50 strength
Equipment: Bring rune scimitar, full iron and Strength Ammulet. Bring a full inventory of food
Explanation: It has a fast spawn. They have high HP and it's close to a bank. They're agressive so you can AFK. But it can get very crowded.

    5. Location: Flesh Crawlers on the second floor of the Stronghold of Security
    Train up to: 99 strength
Equipment: Bring a rune scimitar, full iron and a Strength Ammulet. Bring a full inventory of food.
Explanation: They're aggressive, so you can AFK for some time while still getting experience. They don't do too much damage, and have a decent amount of hitpoints.

Some of the training spots info was taken from Quarentine3's guide on RSC

Try to follow this while training Attack and Strength:

    . 10 attack then 10 strength
    . 20 attack then 20 strength
    . 30 attack then 20 strength
    . 40 attack then 30 strength
    . 40 attack then 40+ strength

What Attack Style should I have?

You have to consider each attack style's pros and cons before deciding which one to use

    Ranged

    Hot
    - Fast
    - Long Range
    Not
    - You have to buy arrows
    - Low Hits
    - There's no way to KO with it (Unless you're a member and have the Mage Short Bow Special Attack)

    Melee

    Hot
    - High hits
    - Fast
    - No need to buy Runes or Arrows
    - Easy to train
    - Ability to KO with it (Using a Rune 2H Sword)
    Not
    - Short Range
    - Lose a lot when you die

    Magic

    Hot
    - Hits Hard
    - Long Range
    Not
    - Slow
    - Costs a lot
    - No way to KO

    Types of Pkers

There are several types of Pkers. In F2P you'll usually find players that use Ranged or Melee, or use both Ranged and Melee. But you will not find any magers (Only at low levels, since this is the only situation when they will hit harder than a Meleer/ Ranger), because Magic is weak at high levels. The only time you'll use magic is when trying to make a guy in Full Rune take off his armour. Attack him with some Fire Blasts and he'll take his armour off in no time.

Here are the most common F2P Pker types (and also the most powerful):

    - Range / 2Her

Known to have High Ranged and High Strength this kind of pure is one of the strongest out there.
They will just range you till you're low HP and then they will pull out a rune 2H (Or Battle axe, but we'll get to that later) and try to KO you.
It's pretty damn hard to kill one of these since Bows have the fastest attack speed in F2P and Rune 2 Handeds are the weapons with the greatest Strength Bonus. If they are good (= skilled) they will combo you, meaning you'll get hit by both the Bow and the 2H at the same time. They are really, really powerful. If you're looking to make a pure, try and make it a Range/ 2Her.

    .Ranged + Rune 2H Sword
    [IMG]

    - Scimy / 2Her

This one is the basic Strength Pure. Like every other F2P pure it has 40 Attack, and high Strength. It does not use Ranged to Pk, relying solely on Melee. Since scimy is stronger than the bow (but not has fast), it can quickly get you to low HP and then just pull out the 2H (or Battle Axe) and try to go for the KO. If you don't like the idea of wasting cash on arrows, or even picking them up every now and then when fighting, make this kind of pure.

    . Rune Scimy + Rune 2H Sword
    [IMG]

There are also people who use only scimy (or any other weapon), magic, etc, but those are not worth considering because they lack the ability to KO (Unless their opponent is really nooby and doesn't eat.)

There is also a useful thing to know:

This is not really a combo.. but it is useful to master.
When your opponent is low on his hitpoints, start 'spamclicking' everywhere so that it seems that you are trying to run. He will try to KO you and will forget to eat (possibly). That's when you'll take out your 2H and Ko him. Might not always work, but it's a deadly little trick.

    What to bring

So, now you know what kind of Pker you want to be. But what should you bring into the wilderness?

If you are going to Melee you're opponent you should bring:

    Inventory:

If you are going to Range you're opponent you should bring:

    Inventory:

    Hitpoints

Some people say that having high HP is bad, since you won't get as much Strength Levels as you would if they were lower. In my opinion this is NOT true. Get them as high as you can.
High Hitpoints prevent you from being Koed. Here are some tips to keep your Hitpoints as high as possible:

    - Don't do quests that give you Combat skills based xp
    - Use your Genie Lamps / Books of Knowledge on Hitpoints
    - Don't train ranged with a cannon
    - Don't train magic with High Alchemy/ Curse Spells

    Prayer

    Melee

First of all, take a look at this chart:

    Also using a Strength Ammy.

So as you can see, it's pretty much the same thing. Just bear in mind that since you're F2P you have no Prayer Pots so, if a fight lasts for too long you will run out of Prayer Points. Then you'll be the same level as your opponent but you're Strength level will be lower.

Here are the most important Melee Prayers:

    Ranged

Take a look at this chat (yet again):

As you can see, it's the exact same thing.

Here are the most important Ranged Prayers:

    Magic

Do NOT EVER, get your prayer to a certain level just so you can use a Prayer that gives magic bonus. You will not Pk with magic, so there's no use. But if you happen to get 44 Prayer, for example, you will get the Magic Prayers..

So, here are the most important Magic Prayers:

    Other Important Prayers

To sum up, training prayer is optional. Some pures have it because of the Strength (or Ranged) bonus it gives / ability to protect items, etc. It's totally up to you. But, I can't stress this enough. You have NO Payer Pots in F2P, so think about it before getting your Prayer over level 1.
Another thing to remember: If you do get Prayer, don't leave it at a pointless level, like for example, 14.

    Quests

If you ever plan on getting members there are some quests you must do in order to get the best Strength Bonus. Here's a list:
(This Quest guide is not mine. Credits go to the guy who did it and whose name I don't know. Props to him)

Be careful for the quests that will get you over 40 Attack (If you want to keep Pking in F2P). Always check the quest rewards before doing it.

In the PVP Worlds / Bounty Hunter

    Here are some tips:

    - Always wear the best armour you can and make sure it suits your pking style (Leather if Ranging, Wizard Robes if you're using Magic..)
    - Always bring a slow weapon (yet powerful) to KO with
    - Don't enter the wilderness with anything you can't afford to lose
    - Don't use lobs to heal if you have 20 hitpoints nor shrimps if you have 70+ hitpoints
    - Be cautious when you are teaming with someone you don't know. They might backstab you
    - If you are a mage or ranger, don't bring all of your runes or arrows. Bring enough runes for around 50 attacks
    - Always use a strength pot

    - Feel free to post more and I'll add them to the list!

    The Combat Triangle

This is not necessarily like this. You can easily kill a mage even if you're a warrior. But it's better if you know why it happens and how to prevent it:

Mages > Warriors - Plate armour has bad defence against magic. If you happen to be fighting a mage and are using a Platebody, Platelegs, Full helm and kiteshield take them off.

Warriors > Rangers - Because warrior's plate armor will deflect the Ranger's arrows and leather armour doesn't protect well against physical attacks

Rangers > Mages - Leather has a good def against Magical attacks while Wizard robes don't protect well against arrow shots.

    FAQ

Q:. What is the so called 'Respect'
A:. It's a unwritten law made by people who couldn't get any kill. People say it's not respectful to run from a fight. I do not agree with this. I usually fight to death but it's a STUPID thing to do. If you run out of food feel free to run. It's their problem not having been able to KO you while you had food.

    Other rules in 'Respect':

.Must ask to fight someone, (I do agree with this)
    .Must not bring teleport runes,
    .Must not smite,
    .Must not protect item
.Cannot do any overhead prayers, (I do agree with this)
.Must say 'gf' when one player dies,
.Two characters go in, one character walks out,
    .Cannot safe (Mentioned below)
.No tagging (I do agree with this)

    Q:. Safing?
A:. Safer is a term that generally applies to someone who eats as soon as their health depletes below half. But here is what differs good from bad pkers. Knowing when to eat and when not to. You gotta know your stuff. For example: If you are ranging someone and he is hitting you with a scimy. Both of you hit at the same time and pull a Rune 2H at the same time. If both of you are at low HP, go for the KO; don't eat. Since the bow is faster you are gonna have the first hit. If you're lucky enough you won't hit a 0 and will KO your opponent. On the other hand, if you are being hit frequently and he's at high HP when you are at low, just eat. But still, don't be too worried if people call you a safer. They just say that because you can't KO them.

    Q:. 2H or Battleaxe?
A:. This is totally up to you. Just bear in mind:

    2H

    - Expensive
    - Slow (You'll get back to your primary weapon a lot slower than what you would if you had a Battleaxe)

    - Strength Bonus

    Battleaxe

    - Doesn't hit as high as a 2H (Generally: Your max with 2H - 1)

    - Faster than a 2H
    - Cheaper

    Q:. Rune or Addy?
    A:. *Need Help Here*

    Rune or Addy?

I think you mean weapons. I'd personally go for rune, more knockout power, albeit more expensive.

If you mean armour, I don't think there is a fat lot difference. However, of course Rune is superior, again at the price of being over 10x more expensive. It depends on the wealth of the player I guess.
