    In The Name Of Saradomin!

Anybody active in (or even just an occasional visitor of) the RuneScape Black Market will be aware of the 'Rare Names' crisis. Basically, 99.99% of all names for sale are being branded 'rare'. And yet, 99.98% of those names are NOT rare.

I propose that the rare names guide is made an announcement rather than a sticky in the wrong category! Rare names are supposed to be sold in the 'Other Accounts > Levels 3-59', but the guide is in the 'Pures and Skillers' section. WTF? Making it an announcement, if only for a limited time, will increase awareness of what a rare name really is.

I also think that it should be made clear that fake 'rare' name threads WILL be punished by editing it into the rare names guide, and also perhaps an addition to the rules.

This is just one of many issues that are hardly being dealt with at all, with no disrespect to the moderators and administrators.

    - I think we just need to get rid of the sympathy for people who have been scammed COMPLETELY, and simply tell them they should have read the stickies and used common sense. It isn't hard to avoid being scammed. None of the scam reports are being read anyway, let's be honest. Same goes for account bans, when you're breaking the rules of a game you shouldn't complain when you get punished.

    - Perhaps you should check out the iTrader vBulletin mod. It allows members to leave eBay-like feedback in a professional section of the forum, where as now we have vouches posted all over the place. Vouches only allow for positive feedback anyway, plus can be faked unless they are manually verified - which takes a long time, particularly on a slow connection like mine. (note: the particular linked version of iTrader only supports vB3.8, which you should also look at upgrading to.. but for the love of god NOT vb4!)

    - Much harsher punishments in the RuneScape sections. The average RS player apparently has a problem understanding basic rules and insults anybody who informs them they are doing something wrong.

    - Who made that new skin? Can it be fixed up so it's actually usable?

Look, I agree that too many names are being falsely branded as rare but it is what it is to the buyer really. I don't agree that no scam reports are read though and it is important to prevent scammers from repeatedly scamming.

Yes, a seller is entitled to sell whatever names they want, and a buyer can buy whatever names they want, but I think we need to draw a line when it comes to calling them 'rare'. It's like calling the Harry Potter books 'rare', when in truth they are extremely common.

As for the scam reports, the fact that they are not read is a frequent complaint. Some reports with clear evidence are seemingly ignored. There are one or two kind-of-active moderators that handle them, I think, but they wouldn't need to waste their time which could be spent enforcing rules if it weren't for peoples stupidity.

You are right that, even though it can be easily avoided in the first place, repeat offenders do need to be stopped.

What do you suggest as a better method for dealing with scammers?
