I didn't say the babies opt to have it done, I said people opt to have it done as a baby. Meaning that people would rather have it done to them as a baby rather than an adult.

How is it at all "redundant" ? As a teenager in the locker room or whatever, do you want to be the ONLY one uncircumcised? It's not like parents are trying to torture their kids, they can only do what they think their kid will want. Also if you really feel that you want foreskin, can't you just go get a little surgery?

 

What if I have it done as a baby, and don't want it as an adult? I didn't opt for it, what you said makes no sense whatsoever.

The recovery is no more painful as an adult or as a child.

The fact that everyone else does it should never replace reasoning in a debate.

My point: MOST people want to be circumcised, so by circumcising your child you're doing them a favor, and if they grow up and don't want to be, they can get it put back on.

Options:
Not circumcise them and then have a 90%+ chance they want to be circumcised.
Circumcise them and have a 10% or below chance that they want to be uncircumcised.

As a parent, it's only obvious what your choice is.

Do you have any proof 90+% of people want to be circumcised? If not, abandon that argument.

You can't post as ridiculous a statement as 90% of men wish to be circumcised without justification, as you have done here. I know for a fact that very few of my close friends are circumcised, so there goes your claim.

Regarding your second post, what is immoral? Why is rape immoral, and mutilating a child's genitals in the name of a sky fairy perfectly normal?

Let's get something straight: Female circumcision is absolutely disgusting. It is practiced in African tribes and consists of severing the clitoris so that women will not feel pleasure during sexual relations, and therefore have no temptation to commit adultery. Male circumcision consists of cutting off the foreskin before the baby is a month old. The baby usually has some sedative so the pain isn't as acute. Even now, people are circumcising their children for reasons aside from religion, as it prevents many genital infections. The results are purely positive.

As well, for people who think that it shouldn't be done because of the pain, think again. I was circumcised - do you think I remember anything? I was eight days old, the recovery was practically instantaneous, and by the time you're physically conscious, you can't remember ever being circumcised.
