you cant really describe without the whole motion. i can add that the realy only thing to improve your shots is to get out, and shoot. very repetitively

 

but using these steps even just looking in the mirror improves your form not your shot shot comes from practice.

 

I spotted a couple typos, but otherwise it is a good guide.

Forgot to mention the ball should only be on the finger tips, not the palm; overall good guide.

 

Not always, If it is too high on the finger tips then you lose ball control as you go up.

Constructive Criticism: It's very basic and I think the title is a bit misleading. You only demonstrate the mechanics of shooting the "correct" or "standard" way. There are actually almost endless things you could do to become a better shooter. In addition, there are some very minor spelling errors such as "ballen" (which is actually spelled "ball'in" by gansters) guidhand (guide-hand I assume?), and etc. Finally, you might want to make step 2 a little easier to see. The text is very "foggy" and may be difficult for others to read.

Overall: Nice guide, I like the concept and hope you elaborate more on actually improving shooting ability.

Good guide. In all honesty, I'm one of my school's best shooters; however, I didn't read some guide to learn how to shoot. I just knew the fundamentals (what you're teaching here). Practise makes perfect. That's what it came down to for me.

Sorry, it sounded like I was rippin', I was just saying what worked for me.

 

While this is the basic procedure for the beginning shooter or novice to basketball. The point still remains you don't have to follow everything or have perfect form to be a good shooter. I myself used to shoot like this but its hard to shoot like this with tight defense on you. When you play with people who have good defense its hard to shoot like this. This is why I had to modify my shot and it helped alot.

 

Glad to see other basketball fans on here. Im 20 and use the same techniques pictured that i picked up from camps when i was 12-15. Good form man never stop playing.

It shouldn't be hard to shoot like this if you practice. It is now almost natural to me. If it is to hard to do this under pressure use this form on free throws. It has made my shot more consistent and accurate.

 

Greg you play AAU in virginia and are about the same age as me... I'm 15.

Your shot before must have been strange. These pics show a very basic shooting style.
