How will the human race go extinct?

It's a certainty that at some point we will go extinct, whether or not that is with the destruction of the earth is the subject of this thread.

 

Agreed. But as to our end? It will be ourselves. Nukes, so many, in so many uncontrollable mofo's hands.

 

We're really not. We are technologically becoming better accommodated to our sorroundings, but us, the person him(her)self, is not. Today when we have children who one hundred thousand years ago would not have been able to survive we can help them live - through medicines, machines, and other various forms of technology - and that is dirtying the gene pool (This looks like an arguement for Eugenics, but it's not). The species as a whole are not becoming more resilient, stronger, nor better suited to conditions.

This is more of a hypothesis, not a fact.

 

I was just listing examples, you really should know I meant natural disasters will kill us of, but also I think a disease could too.​

 

We're also trying to figure out new ways to kill ourselves while at the same time fucking up our planet. I mean.. if we have WWIII that will mean nuclear war, no doubt, and with a world nuclear war, we're pretty much fucked.
And even if we didn't have a WWIII, or we survived it, there's always things happening to the earth. For a start, the earth will NOT be here forever... once the sun dies it's gone... there's so many possibilities on how the earth it's self could die (taking us with it unless we have learned to travel and live on distant planets.).

 

Considering that every extinct species before us has gone extinct, it would be irrational to assume that we won't go extinct at some random point in time, especially since the time frame is unlimited, simply because of the fact that we aren't extinct, yet.

You could make the point that one doesn't know that we'll become extinct, because we haven't, yet, however when you break the two opposites down, logic only comes from one side, and it's not that one.

When our sun implodes, it'll have to explode. Considering such, I don't think our little earth could stand a supernova. And if that's not the least of our worries, Andromeda and Milky Way are only getting closer, and when they collide, the black holes in the middle will eventually collide, and nothing but a brutal, natural genocide of all we, and everything else in the middle, know.

However, we'll stick to our star theory. I don't think you'd really have to come up with many other options 'after' that as to how the Earth would survive, as the fight would be over around that time. >.>

 

I find it absurd to think that a nuclear war could wipe the ENTIRE planet of humans...

 

It wouldn't be the war, it would be the predicted after-effect of the war. Nuclear Winter.

Look at some countries who are in cival war, i think that will happen with most countries after it will come major povity because of the war, harmful deseases will become comment and spread fast, more and more violance will accure, more terroists attacks.

then coming to the end of the human race.

Since 99% of life form on earth has been extinct according to Extinct.net.
Yeah, you could say that we are more intelligent, and would survive longer but it's quite evident that we would become extinct to a global disaster.

Example 1) if yellow stone erupted immediately: every form of life within 60 miles would die.
Half of US covered in ashes, people suffocate in the clouds. The biggest problem comes in the years after. The whole world would be completely dark and global dimming for a few years - no chance to grow grain or any crops, and agriculture would fail, thus causing a shortage in food and there would be starvation.

Example 2) The magnetic field around the earth (composs shows north-south) switches around every 700,000 Years, it is late and should switch in our lifetime scientists have predicated, when switched it could take, 100 Years to switch, and by then, we would be crisped by it, since the magnetic field protects us from most of the suns radiation and heat.

Yes we are, they're constantly developing new weapons and bombs and stuff.
Oh and the earth will be gone before the sun actually explodes, once it expands past our orbit we're gone anyway.

The war its self would take out a large chunk of life, then the after effects would eventually kill eveything else.

The earth has been along longer, chances are we'll be gone long before the earth is gone.

10 years ago all cellphones could do was make calls. 20 years ago it was rare to have a computer in their house. 50 years ago the most powerful supercomputer had a few kilobytes of memory.

who knows when the human race will go extinct or what will even happen 10 or 50 years from now. we are moving so fast that it's really impossible to predict.

We really haven't. Humans as a species have been around for at most several hundred thousand years of the earth's 5 or so billion year existence, while as a global society we have existed for only around 1000 years.

This is more likely to devastate our populations and civilisation, but not wipe us out completely.

And as a side note, the destruction of the earth within minutes of the sun's death.

 

It'll happen even earlier than that. In 1 billion years the sun will be 10% hotter than what it is now and it will dry up all the oceans. So unless we find and go to other habitable planets we're pretty much screwed. But 1 billion years is a long time, computers have only been around for 50 and cars and planes for about 100. Who knows what will happen in that time period.

 

You can't base your decision of how the human race will become extinct on a probably ficticious superbeing. I believe the human race will become extinct due to a huge natural disaster, or a nuclear war, etc.

 

Super virus, or a natural disaster. The Mayans were right about more than 90% of all their predictions, but they never predicted that 2012 was the end, the calender just stopped.
