Whats the deal with mint cakes?

Mint cakes are actually a rather rare item that you can get from doing the Gnome Delivery minigame.

They are strictly used in duel arena staking and for "Leveling' the trade with rares.

Not exactly, it's kind of a placer. For instance, I'd like to sell a mint cake for 5m, it's worth like 1k. I supply (X) amount of junk and they pay 5m. It's junk trade.

    They're actually around 10m street.

But of course, it's not actually 10m you're losing. Junk has its value too.

Whats the deal with mint cakes?

It's a free item *gnome mini game and given to you completing path of w/e*.

Merchants needed a new item to manipulate and mint cakes were rarely used so they choose it.

They're okay to use, but I think what the majority of people here are trying to say is to not go overboard. Do the quest, get your mint, and sell it to get rid of some junk. Possibly get into them if you have something tanking, but don't put all your cash into buying people's junk for them, because they really have no value. Like 333 said, they're only really of value because the majority say it's of value. It's just a matter of time before people stop believing in its value, or Jamflex does some dumbass thing like making them untradable.

Mint cakes are the worst thing to buy imo. They may be bought along with 5m junk but why? They're pointless items, they're not going to raise in price, so why buy them?

Whats the deal with mint cakes?

It's a placeholder. Like if you have ten mintcakes you can say "Omfg i h4z 50m!" But you need junk to go along with it.

Whats the deal with mint cakes?

Mint cake are hard to obtain for the fact that nobody does the mini game that require to get a mint cake. And if they did they would spend about 2 hours just to get 1. So your asking why don't nobody spend 2 hours for 1 mint cake? That like 10M in 2 hours right? Nope you need junk.

To me mint cakes are a safe way to get rid of a fail merchant. Also you can only buy certain rare items such as Pumpkin, Easter Egg, Disk of return and even Phats with mint cake. They will RARELY sell for regular grand exchange price. Even 3rd age armor require you to have mint cake to be able to easly buy from another player. You will have a really hard time buying any of those rare items for regular coins. So mint cake do have a great value then just junk trading. Unless you call every holiday rare item junk. Then yes they are just junk trading.

ATM a regular easter egg coast 30+ mint cakes and regular grand exchange value. If you calculate that, that is over 150M coins in Junk if you are lucky enough to buy it for 5 Mill each. As of now mint cakes are 10M+! So that is over 209M for one easter egg! And easter egg is the Cheapest rare item that can only be sold by mint cake! Disk of returning requires atleast 1 easter egg and 5+ Mint cakes! Redicolous right? Hell yeah!
