Steps in Creating a website

I'm pretty new to creating a website and was wondering if you guys can help run through how to create a good one.
also If theirs any good guides you recommend please post a link

I just made my first site, it's a forum. It's actually pretty easy.

1. Godaddy.com: buy domain& hosting together and you get domain for $2

2. Install one of their site applications and set up your site.

3. Go public =D
