The only thing it requires is a simple Mod installation, for both a Bump button and the double post merger.

well its would have to take some notice to ever post on the threat even if you already read the in case they posted again. no support.

It will be abused?

Make it so you can bump one thread every 12 hours. You can only bump threads that have been posted in within 98 hours (4 days). These threads must have 30 replies at least.

I like the idea, but I know it's been suggested before and turned down enough to be added to DNS - not sure why. I've seen auto-merge denied as well.

 

When you double post to bump a thread as such, it merges the posts together and renews the post time with your most previous post which in turn will bump it.

 

We should ask why because there's no reason on why it shouldn't be added. Would clean up the forums a lot.

 

The double posting thing is a good idea.
Works like this...
You make a new topic.
You cannot post for anohter 120 hours on your topic.(unless someone else posts)
You can post after 120 hours
You post
You attempt to post right after
The forum combines your post
BUT if you wait 3 hours(default time allowed to bump your thread according to rules)
It will not combine your posts and will move your thread to the top

theres already anti spam measures in place -

cant double post unless 48 hours have passed.

I agree thats what we need a button on only a thread that would bump it and posts would not move the thread up because sometimes people post stuff on the thread and the person who started the thread isnt even active.
