Good way to create a lighting source

I don't know if anyone else uses this same method, but I use it quite often and it works nicely! :)

Alright, so you have your signature with all the layers and such in front of you on Photoshop. If there is a part that seems like it should be a bit brighter or stand out might, listen up!

    Follow this:

Layer > New > New Layer..

Take a 150-300px soft brush (size depends on how big/small you want the lighting to be) and hit the brush where you want the lighting to be.
Then set the layer to overlay, screen, color dodge, etc. What ever looks best.
(Normally, overlay is the best, sometimes screen looks nice)

If the lighting is still too bright, drop the opacity a bit. You will get it after a bit of screwing around with it all.

slightly basic, sometimes it's best to make the brush size larger, and lower the fill, then place the blending mode onto combinations of linear dodge/color dodge/soft light.

Then you can always erase from the parts that are shadowed.

    This is true.

You can also use a black brush (instead of white) to darken areas and get rid of choppyness and things that stick out of place.

I'm just passing on what I learned from someone before me, just as hopefully you'll pass it on :)

Haha, 2nd Generation. I think when you retire, I'll take your seat. (But may not be as good)
