Call PayPal directly. Although the wait is long, they will help you out. Just explain what happened and let them know he MADE you send it as a gift.

Like 1227 said a call to Paypal might work, but it might not. If you have a credit card funded paypal though, it is possible to chargeback. Although I have never done it, because I don't have a creditcard funded paypal account. Just a word of warning, when paying for something like that, really check to see if they are trusted or think of a different way to do the trade that works for both of you rather than you just going first.

    Hope this helped.

I've been in the same situation as you. Here's what I did:

Log on Paypal on a VPN / Proxy.
Verify your personal information (you will need to know credit card / bank account).
    Change password.
Call Paypal, and tell them it was unauthorized.

It's worked for me, but be careful, your account may get limited if this is abused.

Although what the above poster said may work, screwing around with paypal can get you into legal trouble. the best option is to just call paypal directly and explain the situation. Good luck.

LOL. That's all I have to say about that.

@OP: Paypal doesn't cover for virtual goods, so the second you tell them you bought a virtual item they will deny you any coverage and further assistance. If you bought the item with a CC or funded with your bank account, you can call your bank to force a reversal, but this will get you in trouble with Paypal.

Call them, see what you can do through Paypal alone, then contact your bank.

EDIT: I Am The RWT. MAC Addresses are usually logged through software. Even if Paypal did decide to log your MAC Address, it is easily changed.
