Form1 preventing shut down of pc

On a few random occasions my pc has started to lag and when I go to shut down my pc it says that something called "form1" is preventing the shut down. This only ever happens when my pc slows down anyone have any idea what It is?

This is what I found from googling for a minute: What is Form1? It's in my running applications and processes but I have no idea what it is. Should I get rid of it? : 24hoursupport (reddit.com)

Honestly if you dont find an solution and dont have anything important in your PC (altought you can save the important files/stuff on portable memory stick or w/e and then proceed) I'd suggest to re-install windows and full-clean the disc(s). Wont take too many hours and it will get rid of all un-necessary programs.

 

I've done multiple system restores to factory settings and I'm using windows 11 but it still happens. The only reason I was curious was because whatever it is seems to slow my pc down to the point I go from running rs at 50fps to 1fps. I no longer play RuneScape but the lagging is visible when I use Google Chrome or simply move my cursor and only happens once every now and then, it's a new laptop too.

 

Form1 has something to do with the program "Visual Studio", do you have that program in your laptop?

 

I don't have that program although since it's made by Microsoft maybe it's part of another program which comes with windows. It seems to have stopped since I disabled all programs that launch when I start up my pc. I guess time will tell, thanks.

When you create a desktop application in Visual Studio, by default it creates a window called Form1. Typically devs who care will rename it to something else. This implies you have some kind of program always running in the background which you are unaware of. This is definitely cause for concern.

 

Any idea how I can go about locating the program?

 

try and find form1 in task manager and right click>open file location
