Legit guide to blocking Adverts

Been using this method for a year and thought I'd share. This can be used on any site that has annoying adverts that lag you. This is not detected like normal advert blocking since this is purely browser blocking through a third party, so you will not get banned using this method. This is a method so you will not have to install other programs on your computer (besides Firefox)

Requirements:
Firefox

Walkthrough:
Open your Firefox browser, if you do not have Firefox go to www.mozilla.com and get it for free.

After going to the firefox home page, go to the add-ons page which is located here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/)

Search for Adblock Plus (it's free, don't let the Plus confuse you) when when you press Search you should scroll down and find something like this.



Simply press 'Add to Firefox' which will display a dialog box which is shown below.



Press install, it will ask you to restart Firefox. Press OK and restart your Firefox browser. After restarted you will notice at the top search bar a stop sign icon with 'ABP' writen on it.



Now, go to RuneScape (www.runescape.com) and press play. You will see the adverts load, but don't panic. Click the ABP button shown above and it will display a dialog box at the bottom of Firefox.



RuneScape adverts are highly easy to block as the only content you are able to block are the advert sites and RuneScape material. Everything you block is shown in red, and will not be shown. Simply right click the ad link, and press 'Add exception rule for item' which will display another dialog box.



This gives you a few options on how far would you like to block the ad. If you do not want to be bothered by these kinds of ads again, simply click the bottom option (as shown above) which blocks any content from that one site which in this case it will block any content that involves uac.advertising.com

Explaining further, you will see a ^ mark at the end of uac.advertising.com which means all. This variable is saying block anything from this path and further. Simple click Add Filter, and refresh the RuneScape page and it might try to load another ad from another advert site (which I show blocking around three or more sites from showing adverts, and have not had ads since.)

This is basically a content filter add-on available for Firefox. I hope this helped, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to post. If I did not explain it thoroughly, please tell me and I'll make it more clear.

Since you have done all the steps you will not receive any adverts while playing the RuneScape client! You can also use this on other websites as well. What makes this more unique than ad-blocking programs is you are not installing a program on your computer to block the ads for you, and when you try to add a filter to your browser for the RuneScape ads, it will prompt that you are blocking ads, this is where ABP comes in. It uses your browser and blocks using a third party instead of the normal blocking content built in the browser so it's not detectable.

TIPS:

-When you select an item in the dialog box when clicking the ABP button, it will flash the item you are about to block the content from. You can block just that item or all the content from that URL.

-You are able to use this anywhere. Though be careful what you block, please see the first tip to make sure you know what you are blocking.

-Be careful when blocking jscripts. Some sites have scripts embedded to run certain content on the page, which if you block the page it may not load/run correctly.
