How to Curve a Soccer Ball

Hahanerd45 here with my second guide. This guide will teach you How to Curve a Soccer Ball. All positive and negative feedback are welcome.

Why is this useful?

In a soccer game, you can't just directly kick the soccer ball right at the goal. Obviously, the goalkeeper is going to block it. By reading this guide, it will teach you how to curve the soccer ball around the goalkeeper and into the goal. It's also useful during a free kick. If there's a wall 10 feet ahead of you, you can manuever the ball to go around them and trick the goalkeeper to score a goal.

Steps to Curving a Soccer Ball

1. Depending on the situation, you have two ways of doing this. First one is if you are kicking a free kick. Step back maybe 6-10 feet. For the second scenario for when you're being rushed, skip to part 2.



2. As you get ready to kick the ball, the side of your foot needs to slide against the ball. This causes the ball to curve to the left. During a free kick, run up to the ball and do this exact step. The foot you are NOT kicking with should be next to the ball, while the other the other foot looks like this:


3. Now, kick the ball and it should start curving to the left. Now two things can happen. A, the goalie blocks it and you basically have to restart the process, or B, you score.

A video would help greatly because a lot of people would not understand what "the side of your foot needs to slide against the ball" means, which is the most important factor in this guide.

 

Put some more detail. Kick with the inside of your shooting foot on the outside of the ball while following through in the direction you want to curve the ball. The more you swing your leg the more it'll curve. Maybe put a video in.

Now, for your guide, you wanted to teach someone how to curve a soccer ball, but the majority of your guide doesn't teach them the very fine details of how to do so.

Curving a ball well is no easy task. It takes skill, coordination, precision, and finesse. If a video is out of question, at least take a very close up and clear picture of your foot's position in relation to the ball. If you must, take the images of yourself kicking the ball at different stages. Show what is right and what is wrong. It's difficult to explain how to do something like this, so it helps to elaborate as much as possible.

Probably, but it would make the guide a weak one in terms of your application because its unoriginal work that reflects laziness and inability on your part.

 

That's true, it's just a buncha snow everywhere haha or else I would make a personal vid.

 

I like the general idea of this guide, however for the most part, although you can teach someone on how to curve a soccer ball, It's mostly up to the skill and co-ordination of the player.

I feel you could've gone into more depth with this guide, you didn't explain parts fully. When I use to play soccer, I remember I use to curve the ball the exact same way, however when I was taking a run up I always came in from the side. (like professionals do.) The presentation is overal pretty good, and I like the way you've used pictures and sourced them. At the moment, the guide is mediocre. If you made a few adjustments and go into more detail then PM me, I'll be happy to review the guide again.

I take my team's corner kicks and the way I do it is I turn my body to where I want to ball to start curving at. I then run up at the ball, maybe only 1-2 steps. I don't come from the side, as that throws off your balance. Idk, I guess you can add two ways. You also might wanna add how to knuckle shoot the ball.

For example: I'm trying to start the curve at the 6, and curve it into the top right/left.
