Grand Theft Auto IV - Help

I jsut bought Grand Theft Auto IV.

All the sites with cheats on them, say you press Up to get into Niko's cell, the Up again to open up the keypad. I can get into the cell, but I press Up again and it doesn't do anything.

How do I activate cheats?!

 

Cheats are like phone numbers
so press up to go to phone
then up again to go to dial pad
then enter the cheat number
and there you go

Anyways, you hit up to get to your phone, up again to your number pad. Dial in the cheat, hit okay and on the top left you should see "cheat activated". After that you re open your phone, scroll through to cheats and then you select the cheat you want. It's simple

 

If you can't start up the keypad then that means you haven't beat the mission where to take Roman to go betting in a game of poker. Once you beat that mission you can use the keypad on your phone but it's the 2nd mission so it's no big deal.

 

Dial it like a phone number, then once you call the cheat will be activated.

 

Play the game until you get acess to your keypad when you can start dialing numbers.
