    Xbox 360: Need some assistance.

    Hey all,

Recently, an xbox that I bought from a friend JUST got the red rings as we are
on our vacation from school right now... FML.....
I was reading about some stuff on the Xbox live support and I have no idea
what they are talking about. Is there anyone that can help me translate?

Can someone tell me what this 3 year warranty is? And can someone tell me
what I should do now that I have "E 74 System Error"?

    Thanks,

    Krayzie

Register your Xbox, when fill out the warrenty form, and then you can repair it for free. They will link you to UPS and they will come and pick it up for you, and return when it is fixed.

As long as it's not three years old call:

    1-800-4-my-xbox

    They'll help you out.

Ya just call 1-800-469-9269 and speak to an agent and ask how you would know if your xbox is covered by the extended 3 year warranty and they will tell you. If it is then it will be free but if it is not then you will have to pay. Once you know and want to send it you will have to go to xbox.com and go to the appropriate links to print out lable to ship or have them send one.

Lets say that I don't have the 3 year warranty, approximately how much would
the price be to pay for any services and repairs to the xbox system? If it exceeds
even 50 dollars, I'm just going to buy a new xbox. It wouldn't be worth
it in the end whereas the new xbox elite has guaranteed no system failure.

You have the three year warranty regardless, unless you've opened your Xbox (broken the cute little seal).

I hoesntly suggest fixing it yourself (if you're good at soldering) or taking it to a local game shop. I know they've fixed my friend's for $40.

I have no mechanical skills whatsoever concerning with soldering and attaching
an Xbox from scratch. I'd cause waaaay more harm than good. If the local game
shop will cost $40.00, then shipping the Xbox in without warranty will definitely
exceed $40.00. FFS, I'll just end up buying another xbox. Thank god it wasn't my
newest Xbox that got fucked. Thanks for all you guys help.

It happened to me last year during the summer holidays. I just took my xbox apart to find it was fucked on this inside. I then bought an arcade model for $200 and re-used my harddrive. It was a waste of time and money.

If that's what you're going to try, I suggest Play N Trade, if you have one near you.

Happended to me 3months ago. I rang em up. Took me 3 goes because I could not understand them. They didn't ask me about my warranty or anything. Gave em my serial code, and they sent a email out to me regarding where to post out the parcel. Then 3weeks later, got it back with 1months card.

Why not fix it for $40 and sell it for more?
