[Denied]Require users pardoning for doxing to pay damages

People who scam and pardon have to pay back the users they stole from. $5, $50, $500, $5000, it doesn't matter, you have to pay it back.

What do people who dox other users and their family members have to pay back? They say sorry, make a few pardons, and get off free?

Yes, obviously "damages" are subjective but there should be a monetary value attached to the damage they cause to their victims.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but iirc, Sythe has very loose rules regarding doxing (e.g sharing someone's irl name is considered doxing by Sythe rules), which isn't a big deal in my opinion. However, if someone is going through the effort of trying to leak your name, location, and other bits of information, obviously they are trying to be malicious with their intent and should be punished severely.

If an offender participates in the gathering and-or leaking of someone's personal information, imo, the offender shouldn't be allowed back into the community. It should be a permanent ban without a chance of reversal.

Considering the risks that come from doxing such as swatting, which can result in death, you shouldn't be given a second chance. Furthermore, if someone intentionally leaks information as sensitive as say, your address, and the community offers the offender an option to be pardoned, the offender should be responsible to pay as much as it'll cost for the victim to move to ensure their safety.

 

it's subjective. IMO it should be a "permanent" ban but there were a couple of people pardoned very recently for doxing. Doesn't make sense. If someone contacted your sister and threatened them what amount could ever make up for that?

Now this I can agree with to an extent, simply because there is a lot of different ways it can go, if you look at streamers for example t he amount of times (and quoted user mentioned this) have been swatted or similar all it takes is the wrong person with actual intent for whatever reason and the police to get the wrong tip-off

I believe there have been a couple of cases like this, not on this forum but in previous that I have seen where users have been blacklisted completely for whatever reason (may not be the same as the thread reason)

With that being said, people in let's say @Beast was trying to get money back that he was scammed for or such, was it the wrong way of going? Sure but in the moment he thought it was the best decision for better or worse and that shouldn't be held above his head as a bargain chip because you don't like someone

 

I would say it depends on the severity of the dox. Something like your name being doxxed (if it does not lead to anything further), I do not think any damages should be paid. If the dox is severe enough (up to the discretion of the staff team), money should be paid to the person or the community fund.

Then again, in real life, people get lawsuits over defamation, so defamation bans should have to pay back as well.

 

How would you define how much damage has been done through doxing? It would have to be a case to case basis, with very likely hood of bias occurring (it already does).

He didn't own up for it though, look how long it actually took to come forward and you was friends before that so that makes no sense

An name that was accidentally leaked, and someone getting their money back when they was scammed by someone like your "friend" isn't really needing to be paid for, we served our time now you may get over yourself

And of course you know what I do, because beyond reporting your childish crap you caused for @Izad you only ever contacted me regarding a worker of mine who was gambling something around you, so you know who I am and what I do just clearly

I could ask the same thing on the other hand about your continued harassment of forum members, and your friend scamming and then ban evading, does that not only cause damage but loss in revenue?

Staff reasoned that he should be pardoned and that whatever he did to counteract his deeds was sufficient. If staff would have set as a prerequisite for pardoning to nullify the damage by apologizing to the victim/talking it out (no idea if that happened in the concrete case), then that would have achieved the goals you're aiming for, but in a more fitting way. A scam deserves a pay-out whereas a dox deserves a good-ass apology.
No need to monetize everything.
Secondly, in the case a situation is so unjust to the extent that the only way to bring justice to it is by penalty payment, then that should not be a mandatory thing, but there should be discretion and assessments should happen on a case-by-case basis.
Thirdly, I'd say that Sythe jurisdiction has its limits in what it should and should not do. There's a reason Sythe does not have regulated consumer protection (in the sense that the EU does). If the victim feels that the dox has gone too far and hurt him in any way fit, he is free to take (legal) actions himself. Papa Sythe doesn't have to spoonfeed everyone in every way.

It is on topic, in fact its proving a point that you're calling out others flaming them in a place you're not allowed and trying to justify it in the name of losing out yourself

The “victim” in my situation scammed me $400, and still has not paid me that full amount back. So on top of the “time” I spent without a online business I could advertise here on sythe + a position on sythe that was making me a little bit of money was gone during the year I was dnt’d.

this is pointless to even comment because I already know what your intentions are about making this thread as one of your early responses highlighted the newly pardoned members which included myself.
