How do I make a shortcut to put on my taskbar to show/hide desktop icons and gadgets?

You want to know how to make a shortcut and put it on the taskbar?

 

I want to pin a shortcut to my Windows 7 taskbar that shows/hides my desktop icons and gadgets when clicked.

I really don't know how to explain it any clearer than that. <.<

I don't know if you can make a shortcut for that but here is a solution you might like;

Go to the Taskbar > Properties > UNCHECK "Lock the taskbar" > CHECK "Auto-Hide" the taskbar.


This will hide the taskbar, if you want to see it just move your mouse over it.

 

FG4, do you see the clear little rectangle in the lower right corner of your screen?

Hover your mouse over it to activate "Aero-Peek" or click it to show desktop.

 

That just hides the windows that are open, it doesn't hide any icons or gadgets.
That may be what he wants though, not sure.

 

Ah, sorry, I read it incorrectly. The only prebuilt method to instantly hiding all your gadgets is to right click an area on your desktop, go to View, then select "Show Desktop Gadgets" to toggle them on and off.

 

I don't want to autohide the taskbar nor do I want a "show desktop" button (there's already one on the taskbar).

=/ I want to show/hide the desktop icons and gadgets with one click from my taskbar.

Hopefully there is a way. Thanks for trying, anyway.

edit: Yeah, Xel that's one way but it's tedious I want it to be quick.

 

You could find the command attached to the menu option and create a batch file and pin it to your taskbar.

I dont know just a suggestion, not really an answer for you but maybe something more helpfull to look for would be something with the click of it in your taskbar it brings something up that goes on top of everything you have, then you can be able to exit it using a hotkey? you know so basically you click the little icon and a big picture comes up to cover you screen then you close it using a hotkey? idk maybe someone can make it lol itde be worth downloading
