    Host your own Images

Are you tired of "tinypic" or "photobucket" removing your Images or images not found? well why not host your own image??

    Why host your own image?
    ►Lasts for a long time.
    ►Not removed for any reason.
    ►Images for your site.
    ►Pretty easy.

First let's to got a free web host provider I recommend

    Code:
    http://zymic.com
    [IMG]

    Sign up for an account.

Then confirm your account by using your e-mail.
Use gmail or hotmail not YAHOO!

    Now Click "Control Panel"
and you should see a big button saying "Create New Web Host Account"
Click it and make a new site.

    Choose a site name
    Password Repeat password.
agree to terms fill in the random words then your DONE!
you should see something like this.

Now download a FTP client such as FileZilla!
    you can download filezilla at.

    Code:
    http://filezilla-project.org/
After that download and Install Filezilla and Open it up!!
In the previous picture it shows a highlighed part that says "Host" and "User"
enter that out in Filezilla and then your password and hit connect like so.

create a new Directory and name it whatever you like i'm going to use the name "Images"

After that is done search for your Images on the left side.
Click them and drag them to your "Images" folder or the folder of your choosing.

when the file transfer is finish.
find the path of your image so example.
    http://www.yoursite.99k.org/images/signature.png

then just add IMG tags to it and heres your final result!

Great guide, I was wondering how to do this. Also, you can set Jing up so that it will automatically upload to your website with FTP.

    Great guide!

This is helpful for people like me who use tons of pictures; photobucket gets annoying. The pictures were great and the guide was easy to understand. You might wanna space the words from the pictures a bit, it looks like they are smashed together now.

Overall: This is a great guide and could help many of us on sythe. Keep it up!

    I gave your guide a 8.5/10.

Excellent flow, excellent idea, and overall excellent presentation. Your sequence of ideas is well formatted, and I can tell there was forethought to this guide. Sentences and conventions are clean. I love the images, but perhaps you can crop off the excess for your next guide.

    Some suggestions:
Provide alternate hosts in case the provided one changes policy or another one is needed.
Provide alternate .ftp programs for different operating systems or for more user selection.

I have to disagree with this, FileZilla is one of (if not) the best free FTP programs available, and it is extremely easy to use. On top of that, it is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Your guide is very nicely laid-out, and is very easy to follow. The only suggestion I would have is to explain exactly what FTP is, and why it is useful, and also show the reader that he has the choice of not using FTP, and simply uploading the image directly to the server.

Overall, however, your guide was very good.

That isn't what I meant. You can set up Jing (a screenshot taking program) to automatically upload the screenshot you just took to your website.

    Example:
