    Google's Homepage Countdown

Apparently, Google has a countdown timer on their homepage. Shows up for me.

It's presumably counting down to New Year's day, the second of 2010. Either that, or something bigger for the company.

What do you think it's doing? Google's never done this before, so why start now? SO my guess is the release of the Nexus One (Google-branded phone)

    Post YOUR ideas!

Go to the home page and simply click "I'm feeling Lucky".

Personally I think its the release date of the Google OS.

Not showing up for me either, possibly it's because of the country your in? I have no idea what it could be.

    Edit:

I calculated the time, it's a countdown for the new year. Very awkward place to put it, amiright? I've never in my life clicked "I'm feeling lucky" other than 1 occurrence.

Hey cool! Look what I found using Tamper Data.

    http://clients1.google.com/js/counter_compiled.js
    It's a countdown to 01/01/10

You can even test this by going to http://www.google.com and entering this into the URL in your browser.

Same countdown, but I changed the date to countdown to christmas day!

I'm edging towards Nexus on 01/01/10.

Can't imagine google going to all the trouble of making that just for a countdown to new years...
