    Do humans as a society learn from past mistakes?

    Do you think Mankind does not want to learn from past mistakes or that it is in the nature of man for history to repeat itself?

    Do humans as a society learn from past mistakes?

    You need to be a bit more specific..

    The whole of mankind as an entity very rarely learns from it's mistakes, atleast in the past when large scale communication between nations and groups of people was difficult or non-existent.

    Your question is very vague, but I think humans on an individual or small group scale certainly learn from mistakes.

    I might be able to add some more if you refine your post a bit.

    The past makes people forget, and people are too lazy to learn about the past.

    Learning about and learning from the past are not mutually exclusive.

    If you do not learn your past, there is no standard in which to not repeat something. This, in turn, will make repeating past mistakes extremely easy.

    It's not that mankind does not want to learn from past mistakes, we simply do not learn from them as a whole/as a group. perhaps as individuals yes, but we live in a society where individuality is obscured by nationality/government/religion etc.
    Group behavior is far different from individual behavior, and as mankind embarks forward we all simply either conform or sweep aside the few individuals that stands for change, beneficial or not. So I feel as mankind we do not possess the ability to synchronize as a whole and learn from our past mistakes.
    Perhaps in our childrens time, or their childrens time, It makes me wonder what needs to happen in order for us to unify as one race - human.

    To not possess the ability to; is the same as impossible to be done by.

    Do you agree that mankind can not learn from their past mistakes?

    Do humans as a society learn from past mistakes?

    "Mankind" can only really remember the past ~100 years in a large amount of detail, so eventually previous mistakes will be made again.

    Sure, people know the events of 500+ years ago, but they don't know them in enough detail to avoid making the mistakes that were made back then.

    Well events that occurred 500 years ago wouldn't be as detailed as an event that occured in the last 100 years.

    It's like a game of telephone... no one is actually alive 500 years to provide a sufficient primary source.

    Details and facts change as stories get passed and pictures like Hieroglyphics can be easily misinterpreted.

    Do humans as a society learn from past mistakes?

    No, it doesn't. A human will 'repeat' something if they don't know that they're repeating it.

    Which brings me to my ultimate point,

    Those who do not know the past are doomed to repeat it.

    Get the fuck out.

    That in no way answers the question. You are merely joining a bandwagon of bush haters. Learn to develop original opinions.

    ~~~
    No I do not think people learn from the past. Just look at how recent the world wars were and not with modern day terrorism. Shit has always exsisted and always will.
    Can you prove that Bush is an idiot? Bush does nothing. He doesn't care about hardly anything, and it's usually not his final say in hardly anything. If you think Bush is an idiot, you're the idiot.
    It's your local representative, wherever you are from, he's the real idiot. He's the one voting for most things that Bush proposed, so it's basically his fault and every other representatives fault, not Bush's. He can't help that he doesn't really have a say in some things. The powers are spread about between Executive, Judicial, and Legislative for a reason.
