Magic Arrow's guide to getting an IP from an email (Hotmail)

What this is useful for:
- You receive aggressive emails and you wish to report this to his ISP.
- Somebody claims to be from a country but you have reason to believe overwise.


Steps

1. Go to www.hotmail.com and enter your email and password.


2. Go to your inbox and right-click the email you want. Click "View Message Source"


3. You should get something like below.


4. Click Ctrl + F and type in "x-originating-ip". The IP will some in a line that look like this:
X-originating-ip: [Ip.is.here.lol]


5. Now copy his IP and go to www.ip-lookup.net (Alternative available) and paste the IP in the box outlined by the red text.


6. There should be some options. Click "Domain owner info (Whois/Abuse). Near the bottom, there should be something that says:
Abuse and complaints can be sent to:
[email protected]


7. Go send an email the the email I gave you above and report the abuse. (Don't think you need a picture for this one.)

A short, quick and comprehensive guide. Once again, you've used a substantial amount of pictures and you've explained what to do very well. I also like the topic of the guide, because I've wanted to know how to do this for some time to see what countries those emails keep coming from. Overall, a pretty solid guide. For next time, make sure you go into a bit more detail and make a guide on a subject that more users can relate to.

Well put together, alot of pictures for illustration. over all a good guide. I don't think I'd ever need it, but its very interested topic and different from the usual you see here.

 

I love your style of guides, they are all basically straight to the point, which I like; if I already know what I'm going to be using it for. Otherwise, I would like more explanation on what you can use it for, and other things of that nature. I find this guide helpful on figuring out how to actually do it, and it's very simple and easy to follow along with; the pictures especially help. Only thing I could really suggest for this guide would be to go into MORE detail on what to use it for, just so that people will better understand what this guide can be used for. Overall, nice guide.
