    Whats a good durable camera?

Hey whats up guys, first I wanna say I'm sorry for my inactivity (not that any of you noticed haha) but I've been training and preparing for deployment to Afghanistan. I have been packing all my bags, going to meetings and had very late days. . .all I wanted to do after the day was done was sleep haha. But now we've kinda calmed down, and I have the time and energy to check out whats going on here.

Well this brings me to my question. Whats a good durable camera? I'm looking for a camera that can handle being dropped to an extent, and handle the elements. Now I know I'm not going to find a camera that's waterproof, and can be ran over by a hmmwv. Another thing that the camera needs which is a must. . .It must be able to work with double A's or triple A's. . .Some sort of battery that I can stock up on. And not have to worry about charging it up over there.

I figured this is a pretty good place to ask because I'm sure this site is technologically inclined and people would be able to help me out. Price isn't really a factor.

    Thanks!

P.s - If I do come back, I'll definitely post the pictures I'm aloud to show.

Since the camera might be broken/lost/destroyed or etc, just buy a few of the cheap ass cameras and bring those. Why spend $150+ for something that might be lost?

    Whats a good durable camera?

    I am a camera enthusiast

    My recommendations:

Compactness is VERY important in your situation. So buy compact camera.
Make sure you buy highest optical zoom (Anything over 5 is good)
Megapixels over 7 is more than enough
    Anti-shake/streadyshot feature is a must
Buy a highspeed, 8gig memory card. This will be expensive but very useful and worth the investment.
Handstrap and camera bag is also important since your camera is compact
If possible, try to buy wide-angle lenses

I have panasonic TZ5...try the latest in this line or you can buy the same as mine which would be around 250 these days
