profile comments

Can't you disable PMing?

 

I assume you're talking about something similar to RSBOT.org's?

I don't think it looks good. It essentially forces a tabbed profile, which is a pain. >_<

I support this for the purpose of vouches. It'd be a much nicer touch than signatures/a full board of vouch threads.

It may be more to moderate, but all a user would have to do is report it, and if it's an obvious spam comment, simply delete it.

It could be abused just as easily as posting can be abused.

 

Both ways I'll live. It's basically like public private message and like social networks. I highly doubt this will be approved though because they're not going to update the vBulletin version or install an addon.

This would only put more pressure on the mods. And Members of sythe.

Also we are sythe.org not rsbot.org we do things different.

As I state "We" I state everyone in general.

 

This would cause to much spam and flaming for mods and admins to handle.

I said before for an option to let the comment appear on your profile or delete...

 

then for people who didn't want this in the first place they would have to waste time on there profile.

 

Then make it an option so you can have the profile comments or not. If you set it where you don't want one, you won't get any messages in the first place.

 

Profile comments are included in the latest versions of vBulletin, rsbot did not come up with it.

The mods aren't under that much pressure. Most of them have been doing this for a while, and an extra section to check on every once in a while when a report is made is nothing. It wouldn't be that much trouble, to be honest.

 

Sorry to dissappoint you, but this isn't a soical networking site. PM's work fine, vouch threads work fine.
If you add profile comments, why not go the whole way and add a photo section so we can all comment each other pictures ^o).

 

1. I never said it was, there are tons of forums with this and they themselves aren't social networking sites.

Its a good idea if you make profile messages private, like only you and the sender can see it.

Pretty pointless and not very well thought out.

 

Profile comments are in a newer version of vB which Sythe will not upgrade too because there are already tons of mods built into this version.

 

if this happens mods will be the only one's getting comments anyways......

 

Same as your post, give me a reason why it's not well thought out.
