    What's a good read?

So, I like reading and I was wondering what would be a good read.

I don't read twilight or harry potter. If it comes down to preferences then I'd say that a book like Eragon would be fantastic.

    Thoughts?

    What's a good read?

Try reading The Hobbit. It's a great book and it should keep you busy for a while.

Just wondering, why don't you like the Harry Potter or Twilight books?

    What's a good read?

    I absolutely agree...
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan is where you should start.
It's very indepth and illustrative. Robert Jordan has the great ability of weaving a whole world together with the authority of a historian.

Also, The novel Forrest Gump is surprisingly different from the movie. He travels to space with a monkey and crash lands to earth in a villiage of cannibals...wierd.

    What's a good read?

I don't know if they still sell them but the Riverworld series (mainly the first two books are great).

What I would recommend is "To where your scattered bodies go", but it's really up to you...

    What's a good read?

Terry Pratchet has a TONNE of Good Titles particularly his Discworld series....
And 'The Edge Chronicles' by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell were, and still are, a favorite of mine from a young age...
Also, like Mattjew said, try "The Hobbit" and if you're looking for a more advanced read, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R Tolkein is good :)

    What's a good read?

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is fantastically enlightening, and should be required reading.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (in particular the third installment) is the best (series) of book I have ever read.

Good Omens, by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman is a hilarious read, with a real english sense of black humour.

Also by Neil Gaiman, American Gods is a tough book to read but is incredibly deep and rewarding if you can persevere with it.

    What's a good read?

    Hello friends,
I like "A Thousand Splendid Suns", I just finished it and I have to say I will carry this one around in my mind for a while. It was very moving. And with all that is going on in Afghanistan it helps to understand what some of the people are actually going through and feeling.

    What's a good read?

I'd say the Lemony Snicket books, although they're meant to be childrens' books they're actually quite dark. The thing that intrigues me is the anachronism of the books, you never quite know what era they're set in, but they're fantastic regardless.

    What's a good read?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time

The author actually died while writing the next to last book, but I'm told the guy who took up writing for him is pretty good.

    What's a good read?

Oh, there are the Hunger Games books.

    They're fantastic!

I believe I'm reading the second one, right now. The first paragraph alone was good enough for me to steal, I mean, buy it. Let me go fetch it..

    Found it!

    Okay, here it is:

I clasp the flask between my hands even though the warmth from the tea has long since leached into the frozen air. My muscles are clenched tight against the cold. If a pack of wild dogs were to appear at this moment, the odds of scaling a tree before they attacked are not in my favor. I should get up, move around, and work the stiffness from my limbs. But instead I set, as motionless as the rock beneath me, while the dawn begins to lighten the woods. I can't fight the sun. I can only watch helplessly as it drags me into a day that I've been dreading for months.

There's also The Named series, by Marianne Curley. There's.. the Thirst series, by Christopher Pike. Aswell, Blue Bloods series, by Melissa de la Cruz.

These are only some of the books that I've read, recently. I enjoyed them all.

    What's a good read?

I used to read the Alex Rider series a few years back, it's about a 14-year-old kid who's a spy, it sounds dumb but it's kind of James Bond-ish.
