The Existence of God

Well, Christianity stemmed from Judaism, so they are essentially the same god. The Christian concept of that god is different, though. Also, my belief is not the literal interpretation of the Torah. (Old testament)

 

No. The idea of a god to me just seems illogical.

 

There may or may not be a god. I personally find it hard to belive that a man just created everything within a week, I just find it strange how so many people actually belive everything with Jesus. Even if it is true there is no proof, and to be honest, I don't see how people would know about it 2000 years later.

You are simple-minded. There are more versions of God than the "7 days, Father of Christ", version.

Also, the measurement of time back then, is different than ours now. I pretty sure 1 day past time, is about 1 week present time.

 

Past creation, it's the other way around.

I read what he said wrongly, it's not like that. If you're dealing with creation, many say that the "seven days" were actually a very, very, long time, and can be taken as stages. But past creation, it's actually the other way around.
And, uhhh, who had a 1000 year life-span?

 

I don't know if god exists, but what i do know is:

a) No one knows.

b) No one will ever know.

c) People will always fight over it.

Are you being serious? This is from the oldest of the Old Testament. 930 years old Adam is the original Adam from creation.

 

I think in judaism the 7 days are taken literally.

 

Doubt God exists. Looking around and seeing all the sufferring in the world today, its difficult to imagine...

I understand the last four seem biased, but so are the first four. I've already read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, but that was more a logical refutation of religion, which is rather ineffective as has been shown numerous times in this thread.

I may check in every once in a while, but if you're all here in like 2 weeks I'll be ready to go ^_^. I still have some time before I start college, and I'm seriously considering going into Theology. It's absolutely captivating.

Me and a family friend of ours (also atheist) have been systematically disputing all current arguments for God, the most recent being that of contingency. If I have some time later I'll try and reconstruct his proof that God can not be disproven, which I admit whole-heartedly, but neither can he be proven.

PROTIP: The debate is more of a matter about the probability of God existing or not existing than finding proof.
