4chan?

So i've been hearing a lot about 4chan from kids at school and also I learned about it from a thread i posted a few weeks ago asking about it.. well I was wondering something else about it. Is it pronounced the same as "fortune"? That would make sense. Because thats how it's spelled, and also, there is a clover as the logo. Clovers stand for luck, or good fortune. So yeah i'm pretty sure it's pronounced 4chan, anyone with a better argument say it but i'm pretty convinced. And also, what is /b/? I looked all over 4chan for it but no results. I looked everywhere, is it a category or what?
