Guessing there is topics about this. I just recently saw the movie, it was really good. I just don't believe 2012 at all. More of the reason would be the date. December 21st 2012 (12-21-12) That's just BS. It might be more believeable if it was maybe March 8th or some random day. Another reason I don't believe this is that weres the evidence. We may not know that maybe the Mayans were too lazy to finish their calender? Also, another theory is that Planet X (nibiru) will collide with earth. This theory is more believable to me since they have the orbit of the planet and everytime it comes around it gets closer and closer. I still don't believe it will happen, but what do you guys think?

I'm really surprised people even debate this topic. It's obviously not going to be the end of the world.

Who are YOU to decide if the world ends on December 21st, 2012? That's right, it's not your decision you can say that 'It's obviously not going to be the end of the world.' because YOU don't know that.

This isn't a controversy over whether the world will end or not. It's whether the prophecies (and what not) are true about the world ending.

It isn't anyone's decision when the world will end, because it isn't a decision. It's going to either last until our sun explodes or until it is hit by a giant asteroid, which is highly unlikely and will not happen, therefore the world will not be ending anytime soon.

By your logic if you know that I can't decide when the world will end (even though its known when it will end, which is billions of years), then you should realize that neither did the people how supposedly started this 2012 nonsense, so you contradicting the point of your own thread.

    Millions of threads already made.

I follow history very well, and the Mayans are VERY smart people, they were the ones who figured out astronomy, and the earth was round, and they also figured out time and there calender was VERY accurate, in fact just a few seconds of our current calender.

Earth coliding with another planet is bullshit, what is going to happen is the world's gonna suffer from natural disasters such as tsunamis, drought, hurricanes etc.

Slowly. 21-12-2012 was however just the day the calender ended.

Also the movie is crap, none of it is true it's just to sell and do well in the box-office.

I find the idea that the world will be ending on december 21st 2012 hilariously wrong. Why? It's about the umpteenth "prophecized" armageddon.

We do always joke however that it's an election year, and god help us if Palin is elected president. The world may very well end.

theres been so many predicted armageddons its unbelieveable, everyone just feels the mayans must be true due to the fact they made the the most accurate calander (apart from ours), just because their calander ended 2012 doesnt mean the world is going to end, the very first mayan calander ended in 0 bc/ad did the world end then? maya followers just continued the calanders, until the spanish invaded the maya civilization. :)

I think the reason why it ended on 21-12-2012 was because they thought no one would get to that age. I only believe the Planet X theory because out of all of the theories it sounds more realistic. Although in the movie when the crust shifted, that might be realistic, >.>

Let's go bear hunting! Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but have you seen the interview of the American citizens at Palin's recent book sighting? It's hilariously devastating - way to go America.

And who is in charge? Hmm? You're going to debate with him?
It's FAIRLY obvious, unless you're a blubbering idiot, that this is all a hoax, just like 2000 was. What happened there? People prepared and waited for 1999 to tick 2000 and all the computers were going to start nuclear winter.
We're here just fine. Granted, the economy is shit, the planet is going to shit, and people are all pieces of shit.

I personally believe that this whole conspiracy is misleading.
For one, I think that the 'end' is simply a culture change. An event will occur in which our entire way of thinking is changed forever. Something along those lines.

I think its bullshit. The world won't end, worst case scenario is that an earthquake happens. Most of the "evidence" is probably misinterpretation.

I quite agree. You really should not look to a movie to represent what will happen in reality, the theory of the Earth just collapsing in on itself is simply rediculus. Prophecy can not/will not ever determine what will happen in the future, sure one can make approximations (ex: stock markets) but determining when the Earth will end is just... stupid.

I don't believe in it either, its just a brand new start on a brand new calender.

I'll wake up on the 21st of December, 2012, and say: "BRING IT!".
