Ban for selling/buying steam cafe accounts.

All steam cafe accounts are stolen from businesses. Disallow the buying or selling of these accounts and ban any individual for a month for trying to buy or sell steam cafe accounts. They are always taken back, sooner or later.

Simple as that, really...

Are Cafe accounts a one-time payment or monthly subscription?

If they are permanent, I can see cafe owners selling them off and that doesn't necessarily mean they are stolen. What if, let's say, a cafe owner shuts down his cafe and happens to be a Sythe user?

 

Valve cyber cafe accounts, or "steam cafe" accounts, are based on a monthly subscription I believe (although I have heard from someone it's yearly). I am unable to find a price for each account since cyber cafe owners submit an application to valve for pricing per computer (one account per computer, and I assume it's not cheap). Cyber cafe owners would not have a reason to sell the accounts to anyone as it would be breaking their agreement with Valve and they would not want to incur financial damage or lose being able to use Valve's services.

All of the cafe accounts being sold here are stolen from cyber cafes. I was given one by Hyphern a few months ago before I knew this and it was retrieved, along with all of the other related accounts. I then learned that Hyphern gets his cyber cafe accounts from someone who steals them and I have not touched one since.

 

The problem is though, there is no way to prove it is stolen. As I said before, someone might just decide to sell their own cyber cafe account that they own for their business because their business shut down. Keep in mind I completely support your suggestion because I think steam account sales should be fully taken out. It's safe to say over half the accounts listed are phished/cracked because of the ridiculously low prices.

I'm on the fence on this one. Some accounts are not stolen, but the majority are and there's no way to prove it.

 

I support this. Logically the only reason someone would sell a 'cafe' account is if it's stolen, which in itself is breaking the rules.

Sorry to burst your bubble but practically every account on the steam blackmarket is stolen in one way or another.

It is also against steams Terms of Service to sell or trade accounts.
Does this mean we should remove that whole section of the forums?

It is against Jagexs' terms of service to Lend, Trade, Sell runescape accounts; lets remove that from the forums as well?

Sorry, but I strongly disagree with what you are saying. It has too many flaws, and you don't seem to have enough knowledge on the system itself.

 

i agree with acidman. so lets get rid of gp selling, account trades, and GENERALLY, the black market? just cause its against the rules?

You just admitted that every account on the steam black market is stolen, and you sell them, don't you? So you indirectly admitted that you sell stolen accounts.

She's not saying disallow it just because it is against the terms of service but rather because they are stolen. The only other scenario is that a person closed his cafe and wants to sell his account on Sythe, which is very very rare.

On topic: I agree with you, though I'm unfamiliar with the subject. It's essentially supporting and encouraging more scamming.

 

A lot of runescape accounts are recovered from buyer soon or later so should we disallow that too? And also shut down sythe while we are at it?

 

I am not talking about runescape or just any steam account. This thread is specifically about steam cafe accounts. Please stay on topic and make sure to read and understand everything before posting.

 

I agree. While obviously some other accounts (rs, wow etc) are stolen, it's impossible to prove.

Cafe accounts are clearly stolen, and it seems like an easy thing to do to disallow them.
