    I don't think there are a substantial amount of people who actually believes this stuff. It's just the loud minority of idiots and the people who sees an opportunity to profit from it who will present this as a serious threat.

    I'm curious as to why they couldn't find their own demise?...

    On a serious note, it's just a calender that randomly ends on the day which we call December 21, 2012.

    Honestly it's because the Mayans predicted many of the things that have happened. But lets be honest here, the guy probably got killed making the calender :]

    What did they predict? How? I suspect something even more far fetched than Nostradamus.

    If this happens, I would have spent all 18 years of my life at school.

    Bummer.

    There is no physical proof or justification that such a thing will occur. As said above by Masterv11, there was a prediction that the Antichrist would occur on that date when absolutely nothing happened. I for one, carried on with my day. The year 2012 will most likely be the same thing, no logical proof of any meteorites, supernatural activity (can not be explained as there is no way to prove anything supernatural as that would fall under the category of the sub-conscious state of mind) occurring on that day. I did hear once that a meteorite was going to hit the earth; thus knowing I can not specify if that is true or not. The solar system rotation has saved the earth many times from meteorites, and was said on the Discovery Channel (which I believe is complete bullshit) that would hit within the years of 2010+ and has not been fully proven. Unless there is some logical evidence that something will happen then there should be nothing to worry about. A lot of people worry they're conscious state of mind with their sub-conscious thoughts. If you have anything to worry about, it's who is going to be elected in the next election, or will the economy level out once more.

    lol.

    It's crap. It was the same deal with the new millennium. Tons of people believed something bad would happen. It didn't.

    Whilst I cannot be sure, I speculate that, as with the new millenium and various other cataclysmic prediction claims, the world will not end.

    Nothing will happen.

    The Mayan Calendar end on 12-21-2012, starts from the beginning.

    Also, the planetary allignment will make all the planets alligned in one line. This occurs every 640,000 years.

    This won't cause any Armageddon.

    The mayans never said the world would end. The mayan calendar is a circle, is there a dead end when you are going around in a circle? December 21, 2012 is when a new cycle begins on the mayan calendar and that's all. The end of the world crap was all made up by modern people who didn't know what the hell they were talking about.

    Actually, at least according to NatGeo, the Mayans were expecting their gods to kill all humans and start over with another kind of humans. They also believed this has happened a few times in the past.

    It generates discussion and really gets insight to what people genuinely feel. Why does it bother you so much that you can give more than a shity statement?

    @topic.

    I believe it will happen. The Mayan calender has been nearly correct with so many dates that has happened. Their illustrious calender has really been a true work of art.
