At the login screen, hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and login with the username Administrator and no password. Tell me if that works.

Using an illegal crack of a commercial keylogger is not the way to go.

Your best bet would be to buy a hardware keylogger (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardware_keylogger for what a hardware keylogger is).
    An example of one: http://www.amazon.com/KEYKatcher-64...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1258858326&sr=8-2

If you don't want to pay money, though, you could probably try to use a ShareWare commercial keylogger. After a bit of Googling, I found this which appears to be a review of various commercial software keyloggers (although, I cannot guarantee any of their safety, so you should probably scan all of these prior to attempting install).

If neither of the above options work out for you, I could probably whip of a quick little application to log your keystrokes in C, and you could manually add it to the autorun (or manually start it and make up some excuse for your mom to login with her details).

Jimmy, he's looking for access to the Windows User Account.

All you need to do Luke is either login with the default Administrator. If you can't, have your mom login onto her account and use your command prompt to change the password.

    Run> CMD> net user <account name here> *
    Hit enter.

But Vista doesn't create a default administrator password. I still think his best bet would be with some type of keylogger.

If i change it with command prompt (which i forget how to get to) will it tell me what it was so i can change it back?

    No, it won't.

Your best bet is with a keylogger, like you said you were going to try.

    Okay so my question is:
If i run the keylogger then log off the account will it keep going so i know what she types?

also with the cntrl alt delete thing; does it matter that the account is an admin?

    I would assume so.

That won't work for you, though, because Vista doesn't create a default administrator account like XP does.

    Which one?

    They have multiple products.
It would benefit you to learn how to virus scan files yourself. You can use free resources such as virustotal.com and novirusthanks.com.

Just to elaborate on Jimmy5410's post, those are false positives.

The file itself is an infostealer/keylogger, so any antivirus will detect it as a malicious file.

That's a pretty broad statement. Most of the time if it says heuristic, it's a false positive. Also, if it state's the name of the program, and you know the program is designed to carry out controlled "malicious" activity, then you know its safe. Also, a lot of time files are packed for protection. For example, themida.

He asked for how to detect a heuristic, or false positive, please do not answer the question if it's already been answered.
