Well I for one like "emo girls" so I have no problems with the cutting,but if the ya aren't in that field they usually have problems at home;therefor you were her only refuge/

 

It is a combination of trying to get attention, and the fact that cutting your wrists releases endorphins which make you feel better.

Personally, I just get sick at the thought of it.

I knew only 1 girl that cuts her wrist. I saw the cuts and I was like

what the fuck?

 

My question is to you; Why do you think it's only the girls?
I'm male, I've done it several times before. No, I'm not afraid to admit it. I have the scars to prove it if needed.
I did it to take out anger on myself instead of others, and the feeling of just wanting to get out of this world.

I don't know about girls, but usually after breakups it's for attention..Completely natural, but at the same time morally wrong.

 

i know males do it too, my best friend did it for years...

 

This is not a topic you joke around about, I've had many good friends cut myself when you joke around about it you never know if maybe one of your best friends cut themselves!

I'm sure she wasn't doing it for your attention, most people dont tell others HEY GUYS I CUT MYSELF TODAY, they hide it! Emotions can play a crazy role, you should make sure she gets help from her friends or someone who can seriously help her!

 

They want attention. Simple as that.

 

We learned about this in a psychology class I took in school.

Basically, it's a way of turning emotional/mental pain into physical pain. Then physical pain will inevitably end and feel better, which can trick your mind into thinking your emotional condition has gotten better.

Some people do just do it for attention, though. Pretty stupid.

 

I agree, and it happened to my girlfriend too.
Sad thing, but people go through that phase sometime.
It's for attention. Emo's are just weird now though.
I don't know why they take this things seriously at a young age.
