It seems like it, now they don't even give starter items, And if they are they are doing a good job at it.

Yeah I think they're trying to increase the difficulty of the game, and decrease the amount of kids who play the game.

Yea the new tutorial doesn't tell you what to do at all. It relies on people using that "?" thing to get any help they need I guess. I suppose its a way to weed out some people that are too dumb though...

They make the game to 'child' friendly and I thought this game was meant for teens.

    I'm glad.

It's meant to be 13+, and this is helping. We don't want 10 year olds on it.

I've done the tut and it was more difficult then the old one but still very easy. This will prevent 10 year olds from playing because they don't know what a pillar is :)

They have runes at the mage shop in Varrock. Also have arrows in the arrow shop there. Also have swords at the sword shop there. In my opinion, pretty stupid. They should just have them in the bank when you finish tutorial island.

They want beginners to be self-sufficient.

The items do not really matter here. I feel that this is not really fair to the f2p players. Members world is 4x bigger with more minigames and more skills. Other MMOs are also trying to bring the runescape people away. I think if runescape continues to be stingy, they will make a loss.

i dont really think they are trying to make it any more difficult for new players... theyre probably just trying to make new players explore shops, new cities etc.

Why would they give starter items? Runescape's economy is very hard to control and Jagex, if they gave out "starter" items, would have a harder time controlling the economy :/ But yes, Jagex is discouraging..

I admit, when i was 12 when i started playing runescape, if i wasn't given starter items, it would had a hard time getting the hang of the game especially with that new tutorial then doesn't teach you anything about the game.
I believe they are trying to discourage younger players from playing the game, this could be for better or for worse.
